The Big Sleep Lyrics
Deprivation of my sleep
Is so bad
I need to weep
Myself into a coma
And drift far far away
From reality
Sing me a lullaby
"Summertime"
I'm dreaming
I'm dreaming
Temporary failure to close my eyes
Leads to a final
Loss of sanity
I need to slip
Into a deep sunken sleep
And drift far, far away
From reality
I'm dreaming
I'm dreaming...
Is so bad
I need to weep
Myself into a coma
From reality
"Summertime"
I'm dreaming
Leads to a final
Loss of sanity
I need to slip
Into a deep sunken sleep
From reality
I'm dreaming...

I think anybody who has ever had at least a couple insomniac nights straight knows these feelings exactly.
I don't think it has to mean exactly that the speaker is being kept awake by any particular trouble, even though it might as well be, but that being unable to sleep for whatever reason is enough a problem (and boy, it is), thus all the allusions to anything that ISN'T being awake (warm lullabies, coma, sunken sleep).
I also feel the "I'm dreaming" verse could go both ways, meaning as much that the dreaming (as in asleep) is what the speaker wishes the most, so much it's said in the present tense; but also that that's what the waking reality has become (a final loss of sanity).
