Little Fighter Lyrics
Actually RainMaker, this song is written about a Greenpeace ship by the name of "Rainbow Warrior" which was sunk in 1985. During a mission to Mururoa Atoll in French Polynesia to protest French nuclear testing on the island, Greenpeace had planned to moniter the effects of the testing on the environment by placing protesters on the island, against French law of course. The French government infiltrated Greenpeace and discovered these plans. While moored in the port of Auckland, New Zealand, six French agents placed two explosive devices on the 40 meter crafts hull and detonated them. Of the twelve on board, only one was killed, a photographer named Fernando Pereira, when he tried to retrieve his equipment. This caused a massive uproar and resulted in the arrest and incarceration of two of the six bombers. Many of White Lions songs have obvious (and not-so-obvious) political under-pinnings, and none of the groups members were ever shy about revealing political views or affilliations.
Crappy Bassist is correct and anyone that was a fan of White Lion andgrew up around the time of the headbangers ball on MTV knows the meaning of this song. It was about the ship and not Jesus or police officers.
Why does a song need to be limited to one meaning? To me music is inspiring. Depending on my mood and circumstances a song can mean one thing one day and something completely different the next.
One person can see one message in a song and someone else can see something else - as demonstrated in the above posts. One person interpretted it to mean a song about Jesus, another about a ship, and one more about police officers.
The song was originally written about a ship, but why does it have to be limited to just that in its interpretation? It sounds to me like the author intentionally left some vagueness to leave it open to interpretation.
The song is about a Greenpeace boat named "Rainbow Warrior" which was destroyed by the French. Inside the Big Game album booklet where the Little Fighter lyrics are located it says "In Memory of Rainbow Warrior" in brackets next to the name.
Seems like a song about Jesus' ressurection. This has an incredible guitar solo and is a great song!
...So why am I first to comment? :S
I also believe its about Jesus "they took your life but didnt know that you would never die" that would imply that someone was killed, "they" coldnt mean the sea. However you seem to be very well informed Crappy basist so I would love to know your source, because i could be wrong
yeah I think rainmaker was right "has anyone heard the tales you tell or seen the scars you wear did anyone speak up when you fell does anybody care"
but then again "you were always so long out at sea" you could have something there but Jesus travelled the sea quite a bit as well
I interpret this song as a song focused on police officers."And you were one with a cause, And a reason to be You were a fighter for peace on this earth.
And you were never afraid You put your life on the line" Police officers do these things everyday! I'm not saying Crappy Bassist is incorrect, just adding my opinion!
IT'S NOT ABOUT JESUS FFS.
