I don't want to talk.
I roll my red eyes back,
closed and latched;
still you watch.
Sweep from left to right.
Frame six hundred nine,
it never lies,
like some electric eye.
Iodine night sky, straight to veins through eyes.
Iodine night sky, diagnose this time: sickness or a crime?
profane something fine; so you define.
Say it like you mean it, boy.
Shut your mouth until you can.
Ten times, ten times fast.
Dye infection black.
A note pinned on your back,
painfully exact.
Iodine night sky, straight to veins through eyes.
Iodine night sky, diagnose this time.
Now pathologize: sickness or a crime,
as you define.
Say it like you mean it, boy.
Shut your mouth until you can.
Ten times, ten times.
Say it like you mean it, boy.
Shut your mouth until you can.
Say it like you mean it, boy.
Shut your mouth until you can.
Ten times, ten times fast.
I roll my red eyes back,
closed and latched;
still you watch.
Frame six hundred nine,
it never lies,
like some electric eye.
Iodine night sky, diagnose this time: sickness or a crime?
profane something fine; so you define.
Shut your mouth until you can.
A note pinned on your back,
painfully exact.
Iodine night sky, diagnose this time.
Now pathologize: sickness or a crime,
as you define.
Shut your mouth until you can.
Shut your mouth until you can.
Shut your mouth until you can.

To me, it sounds like it might be about being bullied. The "note pinned on your back" (perhaps a "kick me" sign), and the part about "say it like you mean it" and "ten times fast", make me think of someone who is being picked on. Sometimes it can go too far, thus the question, "sickness or a crime?"
This song is great! Where's the love??
Such a great song. Seems to involve rocky relationships. Most Jawbox songs are way too cryptic to write full-out interpretations on, that's as good as I can get.
Keeps coming back. It reminds me of Jawbreaker and, I hate to say it, the better instincts of Eve 6 ("Showerhead" especially). Granted, it makes less sense than either of those, and it shouldn't be missed.
This song is amazing. I wish I could say more, but that's all that needs to be said.
ohhhh, i think i get it. It's about a murder. The first verse is the victim, the second is the investigator, the third is the pathologist, the chorus is about a witness/defendant (being prepped for the court), the "dye infection black" is the victim in a morgue
At least i think so.
