Wasted Time?

Here's my thoughts.

I see this as a broken up relationship he's remembering, hurting him to do so questions if it was all "wasted time".

He can't help but remember even if it does hurt him, or maybe he keeps trying with this person which he knows will hurt in the end.

• There was something, they believed in something beautiful the relationship in this case being the metaphor for the rose where only thorns remain.. nasty.. hurtful.

"When I look into the rear view mirror We create and we destroy"

• Looking into the past, to see the relationship they created, and destroyed.

"Put our blood into a street with a dead end Walk up that stairway to jump off into the black"

• They put themselves into building the relationship, time and effort to building something that seeming lead nowhere.

Here we go

"We go all the way, do we need the pain? Waking up in a black tomorrow"

• Questioning weather it's worth trying to remember the pain, or worth trying again with the person who he's singing about? Is it really worth trying again? Or remembering again?

"I've been there before, was it all wasted again? We go all the way, do we need the pain?"

• Again reflecting on how he's either remembered before or gotten back with her before.

"Waking up in a black tomorrow I've been there before, was it all just wasted time?"

• Waking up in a void of sadness, questions weather the act of remembering said person was all just wasted time, or if the relationship was all just wasted time.

What he says is "We go all the way".

I think the song is about a perceived futility in life.
