There Will Always Be an Ireland Lyrics
cold northern wind
your young arm
against my face
soft and warm
there will always be an ireland.
there will always be an ireland.
silent hour
worthless words
view of some foreign city from the high window
strange black birds
there will always be an ireland.
there will always be an ireland.
what we did
the things we said
your hand resting
on my head
there will always be an ireland.
there will always be an ireland.
there will always be an ireland.
there will always be an ireland.
your young arm
against my face
soft and warm
there will always be an ireland.
worthless words
view of some foreign city from the high window
strange black birds
there will always be an ireland.
the things we said
your hand resting
on my head
there will always be an ireland.
there will always be an ireland.
there will always be an ireland.

I dont think this is any more complicated than a romantic song about homesick Irish ex-patriots.
They are living in a strange, foreign country, seperated from friends and family. But Ireland is still there, and it will always be there.
this song is great. more people should listen to this song.
I only just discovered this song tonight, I love it.
From what I can hear it sounds like this song is about a relationship that started and blossomed in ireland. After that is anyone's guess, but they've always got the memories of what happened in Ireland.
Not entirely sure, but could this song be about the fight for Ireland from being under British rule? Were there any prominent Irish held in the tower of London - that could explain the lines of the middle verse; "View of some foreign city from the high window" being the view from the tower of London which has ravens on the grounds due to superstition that if the ravens ever leave the country will fall. The silent hour with worthless words could be right before thier execution - but all the same they stand behind thier cause.
The hand resting on my head makes me think of a sort of blessing. Maybe the first part is about the persons family - the young arms of a child. And the person fought so that their children could have complete freedom in Ireland, while the last part could be about the wife or his peers giving thier blessing for the singers coming actions..... anyway...
