Don't Wake Me Up Lyrics

You came to me in seamless sleep
And slipped right in
Behind my eyes
On the back of my mind
We swam a sea of pretty sights
And chandelier skies
I swore I could feel you breathe
It was all so real to me

The light, it slipped through the window
The morning ripped you away oh

Don't wake me up
I am still dreaming
The story's undone
Unravel at the seams

Don't wake me up
Death is misleading
And when I fall asleep
I sleep with a ghost

I moved in the dark
The room calm and cold
The quiet hollow
I am such a haunted soul
Your ghost is gone
The bed is so cold

The light, it slipped through the window
The morning ripped you away oh

Don't wake me up
I am still dreaming
The story's undone
Unravel at the seams

Don't wake me up
Death is misleading
And when I fall asleep
Sleep with a ghost

Oh, you were a fire caught in a storm
Memories like embers keep us warm
You will leave me in the morning
Leave me

The light, it slipped through the window
The morning ripped you away oh

The light, it slipped through the window
The morning ripped you away oh

The light, it slipped through the window
The morning ripped you away oh

For me, personally, I relate it to wanting, not losing. It could be about either one, but the lyrics to me seem to describe something that the narrator never had in the first place, except in her dreams. That's not a very nice place to be, constantly longing for something I mean. And I think they capture this well...Whether she had who she's missing in the first place or not, I definitely interpret this as longing for someone.

hm. I thought it was depth is misleading, because you dream in 3D but its not real.

Such a great song. Basically I think it is about how in dreams you can have whatever you want, but it wont last when the morning takes you back.

Definitely about dreaming about someone who you only get to see in your dreams (maybe they've died or something), and then having to leave them when you wake up in the morning..... I

the melodies in this are fantastic. it sure has a hook and patricks voice in it is perfect! "dont wake me up, death is misleading..." powerful. aludes to how death may not be all bad, i mean, u get to sleep for eternity but most of the time all people wanna do is sleep... just my opinion...
