We'll Meet Again Lyrics

We'll meet again
Don't know where
Don't know when
But I know we'll meet again
Some sunny day

Keep smiling through
Just like you
Always do
Until the blue skies drive the dark clouds
Far away

And will you please say hello
To the folks that I know
Tell them that I won't be long
And they'll be happy to know
That when you saw me go
I was singing this song

We'll meet again
Don't know where
Don't know when
But I know we'll meet again
Some sunny day

Yeah, we'll meet again
I don't know where
And I don't know when
But I do know that we'll meet again
Some sunny day

So honey
Keep on smiling through
Just like you always do
Until the blue skies drive the dark clouds
Far away

And would you please say hello
To all the folks that I know
And tell them I won't be long
They'll be happy to know
That when you saw me go
I was singing this song

We'll meet again
Don't know where
Don't know when
But I know we'll meet again
Some sunny day

In my humble opinion, this song can be about death.

"We'll meet again. Don't know where" If you think there's some place after death (heaven, or whatever), even if you don't know how to call it, when you die you'll just wait there until you see your loved ones again

"Don't know when" Because it could take a long time until you reunite.

"We'll meet again some sunny day" Finally they'll get together and everything will be alright.

"Keep smilin' thru 'til the blue skies drive the dark clouds away" This would be an exhortation to let go the loss and get over it.

"Please say hello to the folks that i know" The 'hello', really meaning 'good bye' to all those the dying person cares about.

"They'll be happy to know that when you saw me go I was singing this song" So that, even at the end, you the person knew everything was gonna be okay, 'cause it wasn't the end.

But that's just what I think.

This brings back memories :)

When I was at primary school, each summer we had a concert to say goodbye to the older kids. This would be one of the songs we'd all end up singing...even if we didn't really know the words. 'Folks' usually ended up being 'Frogs' :)

It's about somebody leaving. They could be dying, or just going away. They'll be missed, and they'll miss you, but both of you need to keep smiling cos you'll be there too as soon as you can - or in the case of dying, you'll be there eventually no matter what.

Makes me smile, though I think that it could possibly be about death as well.

I think he's singing it to June after she died and he's asking her to say hello to all the friends in heaven for him.
