Solitary Man Lyrics
Melinda was mine
'Till the time that I found her
Holdin' Jim
And lovin' him
Then Sue came along
Loved me strong
That's what I thought
Me and Sue
But that died, too
Don't know that I will, but until I can find me
A girl who'll stay and won't play games behind me
I'll be what I am
A solitary man
Solitary man
I've had it to here, being where love's a small word
A part time thing
A paper ring
I know it's been done, having one girl who loved me
Right or wrong
Weak or strong
Don't know that I will, but until I can find me
The girl who'll stay and won't play games behind me
I'll be what I am
A solitary man
A solitary man
Don't know that I will, but until love can find me, and the girl who'll stay and won't play games behind me
I'll be what I am
A solitary man

'Till the time that I found her
Holdin' Jim
And lovin' him
Loved me strong

i cant believe nobody has commented this one yet!
it's such an adorable song. he's just looking for someone to love him as much as he loves her. so cute. no matter the circumstances, she still's gotta love him. not a "part time thing" more like a "til death do us part" thing
chaknow?
I think its Melinda and not Belinda. I love it more than the Neil Diamond original.
Also I'm appalled to see so few comments!! People in the US are busy finding hidden meanings in hip hop songs, i guess ;)
i love this song so much!
I think part of the reason nobody's commented on it is that it's a pretty straight forward song...there's no hidden meaning.
and I'm pretty sure it's "I've had it TO here"
Mmm. This is probably my favorite version as well, although I'm not affraid to admit I like HIMs version as well. Incedently, im pretty sure its Melinda as well. Fun Fact - the backing vocals during the chorus are from an uncredited Bob Dylan. Listen to it and you'll wonder why you didnt pick it before.
this song is about neil diamonds life.and it's melinda.Wikipedia has all the meanings to songs.
