My favorite song on this album which is a great record by the way. The song has a dream-like quality which makes me believe that this song is about the fantasy we've all had where we want to run away with the one we love, or fly away in this case. The persuasive nature of the song also adds to its fantasy quality in that the singer beginss by asking and then romantically describes their night amongst the passing stars and yet this entire proposal takes place in his head and not really with the girl he loves. Just a thought :) but I do love this song!
I accidentally found this song while trying to look up Guster's "Rocketship." This is so beautiful. I think its about running away from reality and being with the one you love in this perfect moment for all time.
Ah, why does this song have only 2 comments? It's deffinately one of there best!! it's really hypnotising and has a lovely simple meaning, that he wants to escape the world & get away with a loved one :)
seriously, what a cute song. i found this when i was downloading non-album tracks by shiny toy guns, and it has definitely become one of my favorites.
i think he is fantasizing about running away with the person he loves. he daydreams about escaping reality, and forgetting everything else (perhaps there is some outside force that doesn't want them to be together-- a sort of romeo and juliet story)
anyway, this song is perfect for late night summer drives with the windows down and moonroof open!
I always thought this song was about two troubled lovers and no one approved of their relationship, so they decide to "get away" by killing themselves together. They don't like whats happening in reality and that's how they plan to escape. Especially when he refers to "theres no tomorrow, just today" and "leave it all behind" like they're leaving behind their lives and troubles.
Sounds weird, but that's what I always think when I listen to this song.

I first only liked this song because it was about a rocket ship. I can just imagine myself blasting into space with my love, exploring new things, going on an adventure, leaping into the great unknown. It doesn't even really have to be about running away with someone, either. I think it's more about going into new territory of the relationship, leaving the areas of friendship behind and bursting into a fantasy. He doesn't want to worry about the future, just be what he is now and love, get lost in the moment. Nobody cares about what happened in the past. The now is the only thing that matters between them.
