Cold Inside

hiding ur hurt and depression inside only making it worse ,making u cold inside

I have a different idea of what this song means. I think that it is a response to a diagnosis, of cancer or another horrible disease. It might be that the diagnosis was given to the singer and he was forced to hide it from some one or maybe it was to some one that he loved. The secracy of the whole ordeal makes everyone involved cold and distant. Maybe it's stupid but thats what i hear in it.

I believe this song to not be as specific as something you guys are saying. I am high at the moment, but let me give you my take:

Something devastating happened to the speaker, and he has grown depressed. He compares his state to the state of death in that both feel nothing, or are "cold on" the inside. He is angry at the doctor's words telling him that he is just fine, since he is dead inside.

And may I say, these lyrics are awesome and I think of Hurt very highly.

it seems like this song is about putting on a mask when you're in pain, and no matter how happy you look on the outside, you can always be hurting on the inside.

maybe its about depression or feeling suicide or selfharming and hidding or probly a family member or friend could have been told they got cancer or somethin

Well i think what he means by cold on the inside is when he dies. Because when you die your body heat leaves. And i think that, thats how he's starting to feel because he broke up with somebody, leaving him depressed. And when he says a doctor i think he reffurs to somebody that gave him advise on how to deal with the pain. And when he says 'i love you but i lied' hes taking back what he said.

i think everyone is on the right track, and i agree with mostly everything. I believe he is going through a depressing time in his life and is in the care of a phsycologist and he's talking to the doctor and even tho the dr. says he's going to be fine with time, the singer is basically saying, how can i be fine when im dead on the inside? when i feel no pain or no joy?

I read somewhere that J's ex-wife killed his child; I believe that this song is a response to that. The white coats are trying to help him cope. When this song ends, it leads into Velvet Rolls Royce, which starts with a snow glass playing a child's rhyme.

BTW, these lyrics are mostly wrong. =(

The way I look at this song is this:

He is depressed about a break up. He gets so depressed that he trys to seek help, and though the Doc is telling him hes going to be fine hes not. no ammount of meds or therapy is going to change his feelings for this girl.
