i think this song is about some chick that he had to let go off but still wants, and know he'll be stronger he doesnt give in, hence the ' strengths tested' bit.

At first I thought he was addicted to someone in the past like an old ex-girlfriend. But after listening to the song a few times I realized it was more towards a drug addiction.

and now it's like he feels guilty that part of him still wants the drugs, cuz he thought he was done with it. but the fact that he still wants it makes him realize he needs to stay away from it. which is why he says Still I believe that this calling will see me through.
