what is this song about?

its about police thats why it has sirens and says

You better beware, you better take care You better watch out if you've got long black hair

and

The cops are out, they're running about Don't know if they'll ever be able to blockbuster out

This song is about Jimmy Savile. At the time he was a BBC DJ known for his penchant for young women and it is highly likely the band members knew of this. "You better watch out if you've got long black hair" is a reference to women who may be his prey. "You'd better not go, you'd never know what you might find" is symbolic of how Savile would invite young fans to go with him backstage or to his dressing room. "You don't know what's going on behind his disguise" is referring to how Savile would use his position at the BBC to prey on victims, all the while as a wholesome figure. "We just haven't got a clue what to do" (sang in an exasperated tone) is the BBC's response to people's questioning of Savile's accusers and their helplessness in the situation. "The cops are out [...] don't know if they'll ever be able to block buster out" is indicative of how the police turned a blind eye to Savile, again, because of his power at the BBC. "Cause he is more evil than anyone here ever thought" is a reference to Savile's status as a paedophile and alleged necrophiliac, and the worst person at the BBC during Operation Yew Tree.

Also in "Block buster" is two words starting with B allegorical to the BBC where Savile worked.

Oh my God, this song is so awesome. With these guitars at the begining... And the "Ahh Ahh". I just wish someone could tell me what the lyrics are about -_-

Although the song seems to be about a person, "Nobody knows where Buster goes, he'll steal your woman out from under your nose ....", i think some people interpret this song as being about the Blockbuster Bombs during WW2, hence the sirens at the start of the song.

It's taken me the best part of 40 years to realise that this is a song about a guy called Buster who goes around stealing other people's women and so must be "blocked"! Still, I was only 10 when it first came out.

Dur! "It is about 'Blockbuster Bombs', traffic jams, and guys stealing your girl?" Please? It is clearly about a stalker, a creep, someone that the cops can't stop.

Hard to believe this classic is hasnt got an interpretation yet. AFAIK its (famously) about the Blitzkreig on London in the 1940s - especially the V1/V2 rockets fired by the Nazis. Buster = rocket 'Ahh-ahh' lyrics = air raid sirens

The rockets were not precise and hit civilian areas to massive effect hence the despair. The people are shouting 'Buster! Buster! Block Buster!' to their goventment. Unfortunately the rocket flew faster than any airplane and couldnt be caught by Spitfires or Hurricanes. They devastated London and randomly fell on civilian areas. The middle eight part with the dum-dum-dum-dum drum and bass section is meant to evoke the bombs raining down on the populace. They werent dropped by bombers so couldnt be intercepted. An old man in a pub told me that spitfire pilots used to fly toward the rockets and shoot the wings off because that was the only way to stop them.

Ultimately this song is about the despair caused by bombing of civilians. It should by listened to (and enjoyed) by this generation and each one that follows; play it for your kids and explain it to them.

Its a genuine masterpiece; if not musically, then artistically.

i really think this song is about ted bundy. at the beginning of the song the lyrics say "you better watch out if you've got long black hair". pretty girls with long dark hair was bundy's victim profile for almost all his murders. the song talks about someone the cops need to catch, someone sneaky and vile and that is good at deception and disguising. plus, this song was released in the mid-seventies- about the height of ted bundy's murderous rampage.
