To me this song is about two people who meet, become friends and eventually discover they are soul mates and made for each other. Or at least one of them feels that way. However they are involved with someone else (or maybe he is) and it keeps them apart.

They have to be strong and never admit the undeniable love they have for each other. They both know if it was known between them, nothing would stop them from being together and it would destroy the lives of the innocent people they are already involved with.

She is stronger than he is and able to resist because she know's the cost of being together but he is more desperate to know and a huge part of him wants it to be real no matter the cost.

He's trying to push her out of his life, so he can go on with the life he has chosen, yet he can't let her go because she is the brightest girl he has ever known. He wants her to see it in his eyes, so she knows it's real.

This part of the song sounds as if he realizes he would throw away everything to be with her, if only she would say the word and he feels guilty for it by screaming "God I would!"

Well I'm guessing that this about a relationship that can't be, they're at different points in their lives and that kills the relationship. I think he's saying he'd leave it all if they would... I could be very wrong though. Great song though

I just heard it on their myspace. It's an awesome song. I like it just as much as Hate Me which is another great song.

When I was at their concert they were getting ready to play this song and Justin was talking about how most of the crowd was from Omaha, Nebraska. He said this song was about meeting his wife who was from Omaha. She met him at one of his shows and they had trouble at first being able to meet up.

Reminds me of a situation I'm in where me and a guy are totally into each other but for reasons I won't go into here, we can't be together right now (we're not married to other people). But so many times I'd love to just slip out of the world for one night and be able to be together.

i guess the song is about rying. trying to keep a reationship up, and maybe one of the two people whoever it may be is kind of feeling like their putting more work into it therefore asking if they would meet them n stuff...

life is pretty much shitty like that

This song describes my relationship with my boyfriend almost perfectly. Ever since the day we met circumstances have not been on our side, in so many unfortunate ways. And I care about him so much but sometimes I wonder how much he cares about me... He's a thousand miles away but if I were able to I'd drop everything and meet him in a heartbeat. And it makes me wonder if he'd do the same, would he meet me, too?

The song is about two people who probably just met and felt a deep connection ("It's like a last chance for a first dance") but due to circumstances beyond their control, they can't get together. It's one of those things that you feel could really be something special if you could just get a chance to make it something. So this guy is desperate to meet with this girl and wonders, if it were somehow possible to drop everything and meet somewhere, would she meet him, too?
