I'll Let You Live Lyrics

The first degree was a riot
We're making sure
Our lesson's learned
I'm not ashamed, but im trying
I've come to expect
The standards you have set

Tell me just how dangerous is second best
You settle for less
Then I'm sure you'll settle again

There's no stoppin me
I'm gutting you out
(Does this make you feel safe?)
There's no stoppin this
I'm gutting you out
(Does this make you feel safe?)

The closer that I look is just
The further that you get already
Stubborn skin thickens in attempt to understand
Understand..

There's no stoppin me
I'm gutting you out
(Does this make you feel safe?)
There's no stoppin this
I'm gutting you out
(Does this make you feel safe?)

We got tired, got tired of waiting around (of waiting)
The guilt subsides, the night begins (of waiting)
And I know it's not what you deserve now

Came as a gift from a good friend (a good friend)
That dissaproves (but understands)
To represent and actively encourage all of my worst habits
They all are proof that we are both capable
Of the most terrible things
Don't test me

There's no stoppin me
I'm gutting you out
(Does this make you feel safe?)
There's no stoppin this
I'm gutting you out
(Does this make you feel safe?)

I got tired, got tired of waiting around (of waiting)
The guilt subsides, the night begins(of waiting)
And I know it's not what you deserve now
I got tired, got tired of waiting around (of waiting)
The guilt subsides, the night begins
And I know it's not what you deserve now

How dangerous is second best?

I know it's not what you deserve
It's not what you deserve
I know it's not what you deserve
I know it's not what you deserve

Adam Lazzara is a phenominal lyricist...

Unfortunately Fred Mascherino wrote most of the lyrics for this album.. But Tell all your friends is proof that Adam is too.

This is a really good closing for an amazing album.

Anyway, i think it's talking about all these vices that someone has, ("Came as a gift from a good friend (a good friend) That dissaproves (but understands) To represent and actively encourage all of my worst habits They all are proof that we are both capable Of the most terrible things Don't test me") or something that happened that was particularly negative. He feels far away from the person because (s)he doesn't understand that "there's no stopping" him.

This and Spin are probablty the best on Louder Now, that and Brooklyn which didn't make it because TBS wouldn't know a hit if it hit them in the face, and that atrocious pun was not intended.

it sounds to me like he could have found a girl who was with a good friend of his and kind of took her from him. He feels guilty by messing around with a good friend's g/f but the two of them are so infatuated they can't hold themselves back

He wants to feel guilty and end it but in being honest with himself he knows he's afraid that this girl will leave him.

Does anyone know what that is at the end? It sounds like something being played backwards.

This song is just ah-ma-zing. You've settled for less Then I'm sure you'll settle again. Best line, ever.
