The Iliad Lyrics
Will you love me like a sailor who loves the seven seas?
And when my bones get older, will you drag me to my knees?
Like a drunken pirate shipwreck on the golden caskets worn,
It’s the time when we’re together.
It’s the time that keeps me young.
The burning sighs of sirens lies.
The burning sighs of sirens lies.
Show me
Show me
Show me
When you go by the ocean, will you look to the sea?
Always keep an eye for my coffin and the birds that set me free?
The burning sighs of sirens lies.
At least we tried to make it.
At least we tried to make it.
At least we tried to make it.
At least we tried.

I like how the part at the end sounds like "Ulysses tried to make it" I know it's not but I like to think it was purposeful.
This song illustrates for me one of the things that's brilliant about Tapes 'N Tapes. The imagery is there, kind of muddled, but still kind of recognizeable. There doesn't appear to be a strong theme, but you can kind of catch undercurrents. And most of all, the words just flow well and sound good. It's mysterious but doesn't take itself seriously or anything. Great stuff.
Check out another great Indie band from Minneapolis - Bridge Club. They played Tapes 'N Tapes CD release and Tapes played their CD release. They are by far the two best bands in Minneapolis now. http://bridgeclubmusic.com/
