Who put the mess in your head?
Filtering the sense of all you could have said
Who stole the words from your mouth?
So twisted in contagion and reaching out

If this is the lullaby then
Why am I not sleeping easy?
If you leave me alone,I will come home
Dragging my tails behind me

Sweetheart, don't hang me out to dry?
When nothing is left there is always us
When nothing is left there is always us

If I could sing you to sleep
Lay you down and pray that you're the soul to keep
I would be all that you need
Wider eyes oblivious to everything

If this is the lullaby then
Why am I not sleeping easy?
If you leave me alone I will come home
Dragging my tails behind me

Sweetheart, don't hang me out to dry?
When nothing is left there is always us
When nothing is left there is always us
When nothing is left there is always us
When nothing is left there is always us

I think this song is about an Addictive love between 2 people.

"Who put the mess in your head? Filtering the sense of all your could have said I stole the words from your mouth So twisted in contagion, and reaching out"

"If this is the lullaby, then Why am I not sleeping easy? If you leave me alone, I will come home Dragging my tails behind me"

I think this just means that their love is not easy and sometimes ugly...How the guy gets there first before the girl/guy with the spite/hurtful comments...how, regardless of this..they won't give it up and if one leaves, the other one will always come back with more baggage and the other will just accept it....How sometimes they just want the other to go away but when they do they can't stand it and need them again.

"Sweetheart, don't hang me out to dry When nothing is left There is always us When nothing is left There is always us"

Basically cause they're in this addictive/obsessive bubble...there's only them.

"If I could sing you to sleep Lay you down and pray that your soul to keep I would be all that you need Wider eyes oblivious to everything"

How this obsessive need for each other makes them wanna do anything for the other...regardless of how weird/sweet/creepy it is...It's a possessive I'm all you want and need mentality...I'm gonna be the one that will help you to sleep...I'll say your prayers..I'll look after you..I'm all you need.

So yeah, the guy is possessive of the girl/guy and the girl/guy enables it...so they're stuck in a kinda borderline abusive relationship.
