Illumination Lyrics
Don't believe them for a moment
For a second, do not believe, my friend
When you are down, them are not coming
With a helping hand
Of course this is no us and them
But them they do not think the same
It's them who do not think
They never step on spiritual path
They paint their faces so differently from ours
And if you listen closely
That war it never stops
Be them new Romans
Don't envy them my friend
Be their lives longer
Their longer lives are spent
Without a love or faithful friend
All those things they have to rent
But we who see our destiny
In sound of this same old punk song
Let rest originality for sake of passing it around
Illuminating realization number one:
You are the only light there is
For yourself my friend
There'll be no saviors any soon coming down
And anyway illuminations
Never come from the crowned
Illuminating realization number one:
You are the only light there is
For yourself my friend
For a second, do not believe, my friend
When you are down, them are not coming
With a helping hand
Of course this is no us and them
But them they do not think the same
It's them who do not think

I think the only book allisont715 picked up was written by Dan Brown.
In my opinion this is one of the best song from Gypsy Punk Underground Strike album.
i think in order to get the song you need yo watch the movie everything is illuminated it is by far the best movie i have ever seen in my life eugene huts plays a role in it
The song really has little to nothing to do with "Everything is Illuminated". As much as I'd love everyone to see the movie, the meaning of this song has nothing to do with that film except for the common word "Illuminate" and the concept of realizing something. But in what movie does a character NOT realize something? It was a ham handed advertisement for a very spectacular movie.

Anyway, I agree with Ben. You have to consult yourself when making any type of decision or anything to that effect, not anyone else.

this song is about finding salvation in yourself and originality rather than seeking it in some higher power which would actually be artificial.
TheBenBen: What if you find higher power in yourself?
I disagree with both allisont715 and gypsybaxt. Gogol Bordello doesn't seem like a "political singer", as in he doesn't write his songs based on specific things. This is just my opinion. Though, gypsybaxt has a little going with the Everything is Illuminated just because he was in the movie and in a sense it was a gig, and possibly some inspiration for it.
The song really has nothing to do with the movie Eugene was in. This song is indirectly about institutional racism, and how when you come to a country like the USA you will be treated as someone who is less important, less qualified, less civilized, etc. Immigrants and refugees in this country are met with hostility, because white people act as though they feel threatened by them for various reasons that are both senseless and hurtful. White people believe they have something to lose through treating all people fairly, and this song touches on a very difficult and important subject -- if you are different, ethnically or culturally, you will be treated differently by white people.
Just read the lyrics -- it's easy to see that this is a plea to all those who may meet with the same resentment that many other immigrants and refugees do today, to pass the word around. The best, and most significant line to me is "They never step on spiritual path, They paint their faces so differently from ours. And if you listen closely That war it never stops."
this song is very obviously about the illuminati... pick up some books, kids!
