Having trouble figuring this one out.
Sounds like it's about some kind of Nuclear War.
All the lines about the "message" might have to do with some kind of state of emergency warning. The song title itself suggests a Russian attack of some sort. The chorus seems to be talking about holding each other just before being killed.
The end of the song seems to talk about starting fresh after the world is gone. And hoping that the best people survive to rebuild.
On the other hand the song kind of sounds like a love song in a weird way lol.
Oh and at the end over the radio you can hear:-
"This is it..." "Who ever thought it would end up this way"
i kinda got the feeling that this song about just about the whole new angels and airwaves thing... like everyone will check out the new cd even if it hurts, 'cause of the whole blink split. "if you will come and hear the message everyone wants to learn to love again" like asking for people to listen to him, what he has to say, and if they give it a chance, maybe they'll come to love AVA like they did blink 182. he's just basically saying hold on and give it a chance. that was my initial thought when i heard it.. maybe not. it could also be about a relationship 'cause the "i'll pull you close and then i'll say goodbye" thing doesn't really apply much to the ava situation, unless he's going to suck in loads of fans and then call it a day with angels and airwaves. which i doubt he's trying to tell people in the first song of the first record. i don't know.. just some of my ideas. good song. although i can't wait to see what mark comes up with for plus 44.

This song isn't about war, or love in general, or anything like that, if you read up about the whole blink break-up and the feelings or mark and tom, tom in this case, you'll find out that the movie and the album in general (and to a degree, this song as well) are about a "war", but not a typical war; the war is supposed to sybolise the suffering that mark and tom's relationship suffered because of their dispute over Boxcar Racer. It's about the love that there once was between them that has now been destroyed by a "war" that is still going on because they still haven't made up yet, and in a more general sense it's about how love between anyone can sometimes suffer a similar fate. There are parts of the song which this doesn't quite explain, but I know from reading up about it that it is about mark and tom, look closely and you'll get it, trust me ;)
