Dust in the Wind (Todd Rundgren cover) Lyrics
Tell everybody that I am sorry, truly sorry
For all the wrong I've done
I never meant to hurt nobody, no no
Lord I never want to do no wrong
And I have lied, and I have begged and I have cheated
And I know my ship, it won't be coming in
And as I lay me down to take my rest
I can see that it's just dust in the wind
Take hold my hand, and hold it tighter, ever tighter
You must believe that I love you still
But my strength, it grows weaker, and weaker
And my body has lost its will
'Cause I have lied, and I have begged and I have cheated
And I know my ship, it won't be coming in
And as I lay me down to take my rest
I can see that it's just dust in the wind
Oh Lord, I have lost once again
And there's no one to help me find my way home
Lord and I, Lord I never want to hurt nobody
And I, Lord I never want to do no wrong
'Cause I have lied, and I have begged and I have cheated
And I know my ship, it won't be coming in
And as I lay me down to take my rest
I can see that it's just dust in the wind
For all the wrong I've done
I never meant to hurt nobody, no no
Lord I never want to do no wrong
And I know my ship, it won't be coming in
And as I lay me down to take my rest
I can see that it's just dust in the wind
You must believe that I love you still
But my strength, it grows weaker, and weaker
And my body has lost its will
And I know my ship, it won't be coming in
And as I lay me down to take my rest
I can see that it's just dust in the wind
And there's no one to help me find my way home
Lord and I, Lord I never want to hurt nobody
And I, Lord I never want to do no wrong
And I know my ship, it won't be coming in
And as I lay me down to take my rest
I can see that it's just dust in the wind

Whenever GNR (or rather Axl and Slash) played it, it was as an intro to November Rain. Originally by Todd Rundgren.
"Tell everybody that I am sorry, truly sorry For all the wrong I've done I never meant to hurt nobody, no no Lord I never want to do no wrong"
A man lying on his death bed talking to god in his last minutes.
"And I have lied, and I have begged and I have cheated And I know my ship, it won't be coming in And as I lay me down to take my rest I can see that it's just dust in the wind"
As he lies down to 'take his rest' (AKA die) he can see that all of the stuff he did that hurt people was useless and dumb, AKA dust in the wind.
"Take hold my hand, and hold it tighter, ever tighter You must believe that I love you still But my strength, it grows weaker, and weaker And my body has lost its will"
Now that same man is talking to his family/wife in his last moments holding their hand telling them he still loves them even though he sinned. His strength is growing weaker and his body can no longer live.
"Oh Lord, I have lost once again And there's no one to help me find my way home Lord and I, Lord I never want to hurt nobody And I, Lord I never want to do no wrong"
Now that same man, perhaps in his final moments is telling god he thought he could beat him, but he has lost once again, just like in all of his sins. He never wanted to hurt anybody.
This is a very emotional and sad song. It's absoutely beautiful, Axl's smooth voice singing over a piano and Slash's bluesy guitar in the middle. It's pure perfection.
i've got a half a live recording of this song. Sounds Brilliant, great paino and guitar work. A new Novemeber Rain!!
Look for the full version, it's out there too. I had the same one, later I found out there's a complete one. Beautiful song!
^I think the Scorpions' 'Dust in the Wind' is a cover of Kansas's 'Dust in the Wind' which is a different song from Todd Rundgren's 'Dust in the Wind'. Yeah.
This is a Todd Rundgren cover, not Kansas or the Scorpions. The Scorpions covered Kansas's version, not GNR. This song only exists on live recordings, but there is one out there that has very good quality, and I'm glad it does because it's the best GNR song that was never officaialy released.
Basically about a man spilling his guts to God. He's on the verge of death and is apoligizing for all the wrong he's ever done to anybody.
I firmly believe that the man knew he was about to die 'at his own hand.' It's his suicide letter to God. He is apologizing for his not so well lived life...
This is a Scorpions cover
