Halo Lyrics
Who hasn't made
A big mistake
Betrayed a love
Or turned to hate?
You think it's you
Who hasn't told
A small white lie
Or felt revenge
Was justified?
You think it's you
Who hasn't had
A secret need
A truth to hide
Desires to feed?
You think it's you
Who has the strength
To save us all
To make us clean
And break our fall?
You think It's You
Does God bleed on the world?
Does God bleed on your white halo?
I looked inside
A big mistake
I'd make it stop
But it's too late.
I Think It's You
I've never been
Afraid to face
A fear but there's
No darker place
I Think than You.
Something crawls
And something lies
Something breathes
And something dies.
I think it's you
Does God bleed on the world?
Does God bleed on your white halo?
A big mistake
Betrayed a love
Or turned to hate?
You think it's you
A small white lie
Or felt revenge
Was justified?
You think it's you
A secret need
A truth to hide
Desires to feed?
You think it's you
To save us all
To make us clean
And break our fall?
You think It's You
Does God bleed on your white halo?
A big mistake
I'd make it stop
But it's too late.
I Think It's You
Afraid to face
A fear but there's
No darker place
I Think than You.
And something lies
Something breathes
And something dies.
I think it's you
Does God bleed on your white halo?

Um.. The correct chorus should read:
"Does God bleed on the world?" ...not WORD.
Oh, and this song kicks copious quantities of ass.
Sorry, damrat, but the Jagged Microsite AND the booklet that came with the CD say "word". Also, these lyrics were copied directly from the microsite.
You're welcome, damrat. To tell you the truth, when I first listened to the song I thought it was actually "world". I had do really look at the lyrics sheet to believe otherwise.
Nice interpretation of the lyrics, by the way. I agree with what you said. If you ask me, the meaning behind this song expands beyond religious zealots to hypocrites in general. A few of my "friends" come to mind, actually.
Also, I feel I should mention that a working title for this song before it was recorded was "Does God Bleed?". If I'm not mistaken, Gary performed this song under that title a few times before the recording and release of Jagged.
Omega, I checked it out and I stand corrected. Thank you.
Definitely my favorite song on Jagged. I thought initially that the lyrics were quite good. Listening to it yesterday and suddenly the full force of the song's meaning (at least to me) came crashing through. At first I took it to be some pretty straightforward lyrics about self delusion, but suddenly I realized that Gary was taking a very cleverly written dig at holier-than-thou, religious hypocrites.
The first set of verses basically says "Hey, Religious Jealot: A) You think your sh-t doesn't stink. and B) You are lying to yourself and everyone else."
The second set of verses is Gary saying: I'm better than you because I am honest about my inner demons and I own up to my mistakes.
The chorus is Gary reiterating the theme that this "god" you people believe in is either a lie or worse yet, is crapping all over his "words" and all over your false, hypocritical front: your "white halo".
