Your Gay Friend Lyrics

A woo hoo
Hey hey here comes no one
Another friend to have a go on
And she asks me do I miss her when she's gone?
And I reply "As much as I miss anyone"

Oh
A woo hoo
And I'll be your gay friend
'Cause your marriage never ends
Till we fuck and fight again
There's a space between us

So jump into my bed
Pretend the world is dead
Always in my head
Is a face between us

Hey Lord forgive us if we're wrong
And make sure that he never hears this song
And she says that I'm the opposite
of a Hallmark card
She asks me how I'm feeling well
I don't want to think that hard

Oh
A woo hoo
And I'll be your gay friend
'Cause your marriage never ends
Till we fuck and fight again
There's a space between us

Jump into my bed
Pretend the world is dead
And always in my head
Is a face between us

It's the late show now
How does the late show end?
Well if god is in the details thank god that
you're my friend
I have a friend again
You are my friend again
My gay friend

Oh
A woo hoo
Jump into my bed
Pretend the world is dead
And always in my head
Is a face between us

And I'll be your gay friend
'Cause your marriage never ends
Till we fuck and fight again
There's a space between us
Oh
A woo hoo

This song is so upbeated and funny. I guess it talks about being the lover of someone who is already commited in marriage. Robbie just cares about the sex in this relationship, while the woman asks him if he actually misses her when she's gone.

Still, I sense some feelings in Robbie here, when he says "there's a space between us". Maybe he would like to narrow that space and is actually tired of being her "gay" friend and would like to see how it would be like...

Anyway, I guess those who have ever been in love with someone who you definitely shouldn't...can relate in some way. How far can you go without feeling wrong? How long might it last? Are there any chance that your commitment ever ends?. I do think of those situations myself, not being comfortable with it anymore... :(

Yeah, it's definately about that. Couldn't understand the "Well if god is in the details thank god that you're my friend" line very well though... Could someone explain?

maybe robbie thinks the sex is "heaven-sent"? :) you'll note that following that it establishes that's it the woman again (you're my friend again/my gay friend). maybe she's thinking (or him) God pushed them together? thank God for this relationship, maybe?

I think in this song, it's more that he spends his whole time waiting for her and worships the ground she walks on, but tries to pretend he's not that bothered. She is using him, and taking advantage of his position, getting into bed with him but never actually planning on leaving her husband. So he's left thinking about her all the time, knowing that she's using him but trying to pretend to himself that he isn't.

God - hope you understand all that! :S
