I've read and heard so many explanations of this brilliant songs' meaning but despite the beautiful melody and ambiguous lyrics, I think it is quite dark. There is quite a bit of threat and menace in the words especially when he mentions her sister. The "ain't no blood on my hands, love" line sounds like he's trying to justify the act he has done or is about to do.
I heard this song in You, Me and Dupree, and not knowing the artist or title, I quickly took out my cell phone and text messaged myself the line "drain of love". ANYWAYS, after finding the song's information, I LOVE IT. (Off topic? YESSUM.)
The meaning of this song is pretty much clear: The guy (singer) found a girl he thinks he loves, but he's never been one to settle down or he's been a bit of a "bad boy", so others are warning the girl against him. Either way, he thinks he's been changed (for the better) by this girl, and he's telling her.

This song is amazing, musically and lyrically. The maning is pretty clerar, but the lyrics are really awesome. And the tune is quite catchy. Props to The 88. this song and the whole album is amazing. I also love "Howq Good it Can Be" from their other album.

I understand where you guys are coming from, but what about the last verse?

I think that means he was a 'bad' guy, but now he's so in love, then when he finds out his girlfriend is cheating, he's not terribly hurt because he's done that to someone before, and being with her sister would be something he'd do (hence the bad boy streak). and "there ain't no blood on my hands love" means that he's not the guilty one here--she is.
I think he's saying that he met someone new that he can really fall for, and is in love with and because of that he's leaving his past behind for her. Unfortunately, though, he caught her cheating and he's saying in the line: "now listen to me baby if you can't sit still, I know your sister will.'"
"Sit still", to me, means stay committed to the relationship and he's threatening go for her sister, which probably means she has her eye on him as well. And the last part: "There ain't no blood on my hands, love," She probably got bad about that last remark, and he's reminding her that she's the guilty one here, not him.
