You know a band is special when they can seamlessly mix a beautiful melody with hard rock. That is EXACTLY what this song is. Incredible song.

The meaning that i get for this song is very strange, and yet is still very beautiful.

It seems the tale is told from the deceased who is lying in his/her coffin (box). He/she is listening to the prayers being offered, and the attempts to console those who wept at the his/her death.

I think the chorus

"(falling away) I feel me changing (expressions so vague) Why aren't you screaming"

is describing the transition from Earth and life to the afterlife as he/she drifts away.

Mist be about someone whos dead in a cemetary and people are offering prayers, either the person isnt really dead, or they are dead and are aware of themselves being dead, or the person is going to hell, or something like im dead WHY ARENT YOU SCREAMING!!!! mabey whoever is dead didnt have many peope close to them and is now 6 feet under and mabey someone close to the dead person comes to visit (saw you standing there your presence near)

It seems to me the setting of the song is a funeral in progress. The speaker is the deceased. These lines indicate to me the funeral scene:

"Listening to the one who's praying Words of wisdom hope of consoling Configured rows of saddened displacement where they all wept"

The first two lines, about praying and words of wisdom, describe a eulogy, and the last line references people sitting in church pews, weeping over the death. Also:

"Broken smiles display carnations Longest isle to confrontation Watched by all the professional strangers Stained glass window panes of Jesus Reflect the dim lit ceremony for the lonely"

Longest isle to confrontation = The line for the viewing.

And of course, the stained glass windown tell you it's in a church. The final piece to the puzzle.

The chorus does seem to be talking about the transition to the afterlife, and the lyric about vague expressions and a lack of screaming is about the lack of emotion the guests are showing, apparently.

Excellent song. Very dark song with a great melody.

Very astute observations. Obviously a funeral is in progression for the singer in the first verse. A few things to note. First, the ambiguity of the line "Why aren't you screaming?" Its the deceased talking to the funeral patrons, but it could mean a few different things. He could be asking them why they aren't screaming with grief, this is true. He could also be asking them why they aren't screaming when they see his apparition- as if even if death he still can't believe he isn't affecting the world around him. This meaning is compounded by the later lines "I saw you standing there my presence near." Another interesting thing about those two lines is the fact that "I saw you standing their your presence near" is the first and only time he speaks in (you/singular). The rest of the song he seems to be talking to the crowd in general. Now this one person is standing near, but he gives no clue as to who that one person is. It is also interesting to note that a dead person can not grasp for breath, even if only to see. The line could be read "grasping for life"... it could be read that he doesn't believe he's dead at all... either way it flows into "I feel me changing," which if I do say so is the best line in the song. He stresses it like this: i FEEL me changing, as if he IS aware he's dead and he's simply surprised he can feel anything at all.
