Frankenstein Lyrics

I am falling into a chasm
I'm falling with you in my arms
No wait, these are your arms
Your arms of love that I'm falling into
Is this a vision of love?

When I was a young boy
Mama said, "You better watch out for the fall."
But now that I'm a grown woman
And I know, I know, I know
I can see the cold
I can see the cold to the place where he is born

Come on baby, let's fall, fall into the chasm
With me, fall into love
Cos I know that the vision, it will never shatter
For as long as i hold onto you in these cold arms

There's something in these eyes too close for comfort
But now that I'm a grown woman
And I know, I know, I know, I know
I know the call to the place where it's born
You can see these arms are big and strong now baby
Well I'll prove to you these arms can hold you tight

It's cold, leave baby, it's cold, it's time
This is a vision of love and i'm freezing
I'm falling into cold, come on let's go

this song is absolutly beautiful, i think its about that time in your relationship when you suddenley ''fall'' into love- i think in this song antony and the johnsons are reassuring you its a safe thing to do because your doing it together and your holding onto one anothers arms. i think the mood changes when he says ''its cold..'' maybe hes realised love isnt everything he expected it to be:''im falling into cold''

I sort of felt like the song was about feeling out of place in your own body, and coming to terms with it. Obviously the title fits with this- being born into a foreign body. Especially when he says "When I was young boy........but now that I'm a grown woman." It's about sexual identity, and finally letting himself really love someone despite conflicts with nature.

Sexual identity is only a little part of this song. I think it's primarily about the fear of falling in love because of the fear of being hurt. That's the fall that his mother was warning him about. But now that he's come to terms with who s/he is she is strong enough to take that fall with the person. The cold is a metaphor for love as well.
