Mining Town Lyrics
Said you came from a Mining Town
Til they closed the mining down
Said your daddy was a drinker
He had a picture of Jesus on his sinker
Maybe I...
Maybe I'm coming for you tonight
This town's only five miles wide
Look everywhere there's a road sign
Pawn shops and places to hide
And cops sit around hungry
Waiting to dine
Maybe I...
Maybe I'm coming for you tonight
Maybe I...
Maybe I'm coming for you tonight
Said you came from a Mining Town
Til they closed the mining down
Said your momma was a drinker
She had a picture of Jesus on her sink
And Maybe I...
Maybe I'm coming for you tonight
Maybe I...
Maybe I'm coming for you tonight
Maybe I...
Maybe I'm coming for you tonight
Til they closed the mining down
Said your daddy was a drinker
He had a picture of Jesus on his sinker
Maybe I...
Maybe I'm coming for you tonight
This town's only five miles wide
Look everywhere there's a road sign
Pawn shops and places to hide
And cops sit around hungry
Waiting to dine
Maybe I...
Maybe I'm coming for you tonight
Maybe I...
Maybe I'm coming for you tonight
Said you came from a Mining Town
Til they closed the mining down
Said your momma was a drinker
She had a picture of Jesus on her sink
And Maybe I...
Maybe I'm coming for you tonight
Maybe I...
Maybe I'm coming for you tonight
Maybe I...
Maybe I'm coming for you tonight

I really enjoy the vocals on this track. But what exactly is a sinker?
A sinker is something (usually a piece of lead) used to weigh down fishing lines or add a bit of weight to a lure.
Anyway, this is one of my favorite Whiskeytown songs as well. Ryan Adams has a great knack for storytelling with his lyrics.
If I may...I'm pretty sure that there are a couple of misnomers here.
The sinker lines should actually read "She/He had a picture of Jesus over his/her sink AND"
Also, the finish of the waiting to dine line should be "And cops sitting 'round hungry, waiting to dine on eggs"
