Reasons to Lie Lyrics
i get so tired of wanting to
compared to things that are easy to do
like the reasons you lie to me
the reasons i lie to you
that only you could diffuse
reasons you lie to me
reasons i lie to you
somewhere up in the hills
with some people making fun of us
you refer to with your two cares
then it wouldn't be somebody else
that you'd grow accustomed to
reasons to lie to me
is a reason to lie to you
i get so tired of wanting to
compare the things that are easy to do
like the reasons you lie to me
reasons i lie to you
"then it wouldn't be somebody else that you'd grow accustomed to" - one of the saddest, most understated lyrics I've ever come across. The concept of someone you're in love with growing 'accustomed' to someone else kills me.
What's funny is that I was listening to this tonight and decided to come here just to see if anyone had commented on the "then it wouldn't be somebody else that you'd grow accustomed to" line...I'm glad somebody did. That line is so amazing. If anybody's reading this and wondering why, it's all about how it fits in the song. Listen to it immediately! So freakin lonely, such a simple sentiment that says so much about dissolving relationships.
I think some of these lyrics might be a bit off though!
@z4ckm0rris I loved that line too. After listening a few, sounds like she met someone else and started lying, so he did too. He’s tired of missing her, and wanting too, and should call it, but she could still love him, and then it could be different. We’ve all been there “nothing’s right, but nothing’s wrong”. I think he used the word “accustomed”, because he can’t think she loves the new guy. He still loves her, but he knows she’s already gone. It is so hauntingly, beautiful.

When i heard the above line mentioned i always heard " then i wouldnt be somebody else that you'd grown accustomed to" and i thought that if it were this way then it was quite possibly also one of the saddest lines i had ever heard also. its sad when you are so accustomed to your partner that they no longer sparkle and amuse you the way they once did or how a stranger or new person can. its a sad feeling also to know you cant do that for the person anymore.
the part where he sings "compare the things that are easy to do" with the guitar line is absolutely amazing
