Omaha Lyrics

Omaha, Omaha
Where you been?
When we meet we can talk awhile
I can sleep in your dreams
The night alone I've been waiting

Omaha, Omaha
The saddled streets, the burro beats down my door
When you say it's no love affair
I will know and when we go
I'll be the only thing who cares

I've been waiting awhile
I've been waiting awhile
I've been waiting awhile
I've been waiting awhile

Here I come, Omaha
Hiding out
I got hot head, hot eyes, hot ticks, hot mouth
Each howl, I get bigger
I can't stay, I can for the night, for the night
For the weekend and the night
I've been aiding my fall
Aiding my fall, aiding my fall
I'll be long gone

You shouldn't wake me awhile
You shouldn't wake me awhile
You shouldn't wake me awhile
You shouldn't wake me awhile

As any Nebraskan could tell you, Omaha's nickname is "The Big O" which is also a euphemism for orgasm. So maybe when he says Omaha, he is talking about having an orgasm.

Actually, it makes sense... hehehe

Man this song rocks. It has an awesome ethereal quality...which makes me think that it is a dream. Now I guess it can be taken literally, since the name of the song is Omaha. He could be singing about some place that gives him warm and fuzzy feelings. Because of the simplicity and mundanity of the place, he feels as though he has a special, and almost strange, appreciation for it. Whatever happened there gave him a unique sentiment. Perhaps he is either purposely dreamming or anticipating going back to this lovely place ("aiding my fall, I'll be long gone). It's his personal oasis and he wants to live in it as long as he can.

Or you can take everything that I said and apply it to a woman. :)

Well, I live in Omaha. I'm sitting in Omaha right now, listening to this song. So anayway, these fellows played here awhile back I think. So, it seems to me that they came through touring pre-record and staying the weekend did something to him. This song is perfect for driving around this town at night. In NO other city do so many people live and work and do so little late at night or early in the morning.

It's interesting to note that there's a progressive relinquishing when he says that he cant stay, then he can stay for just one night, then he can stay the whole weekend.

Check out another great Indie band from Minneapolis - Bridge Club. They played Tapes 'N Tapes CD release and Tapes played their CD release. They are by far the two best bands in Minneapolis now. http://bridgeclubmusic.com/

i think he's turning into a werewolf, at least in the third verse, he gets bigger with each howl and he's waiting for the night... and then he fights it. i don't know. but i would really like to think it's about being a werewolf. because that would just be awesome.

This song is so hot? Anyone else? Especially the second verse. Here I come, Omaha / Hiding out / I got hot head, hot eyes, hot ticks, hot mouth / Each howl, I get bigger.

At 2:22 there is a liquid pouring sound. It just adds in a very subconscious way, to the sensual appeal of the song. This song isn't about Omaha or a location, it's about sex.

agreed, underalocomotive, i've always thought this song was a bout sex as well.
