If You Feel Better Lyrics
If you feel better
Telling me I'm cruel
Saying I'm unfeeling
I don't mind
If it's necessary
If it helps you out
Crying that I'm heartless
It's alright
CHORUS
And I'm sorry to cause you so much pain
And I'm sorry to bring you down again
'Cause I've reached the end and I won't fight anymore
I don't know what you really want from me
But I don't fit in your reality
How can any man be so blind
But if you feel better
I don't mind
If you feel safer
Keeping to yourself
Placing trust in no one
I won't cry
If it calms your conscience
Making me the guilty one
Take my reputation
Ain't worth much
And it's alright
CHORUS
Won't make me sorry 'cause I'm cruel
Won't hurt the feelings I don't have
Won't break the heart that isn't there you'll find
But if you feel better
Telling me I'm cruel
Saying I'm unfeeling
I don't mind
I don't mind
I don't mind
Telling me I'm cruel
Saying I'm unfeeling
I don't mind
If it's necessary
If it helps you out
Crying that I'm heartless
It's alright
And I'm sorry to cause you so much pain
And I'm sorry to bring you down again
'Cause I've reached the end and I won't fight anymore
I don't know what you really want from me
But I don't fit in your reality
How can any man be so blind
But if you feel better
I don't mind
Keeping to yourself
Placing trust in no one
I won't cry
If it calms your conscience
Making me the guilty one
Take my reputation
Ain't worth much
And it's alright
Won't hurt the feelings I don't have
Won't break the heart that isn't there you'll find
But if you feel better
Telling me I'm cruel
Saying I'm unfeeling
I don't mind
I don't mind
I don't mind

I think this song has a hint of sarcasm in it too... "If it makes you feel better, then by all means try to destroy me. Not that I have a heart or feelings or anything for you to bruise."
wow I thought it was about some obsessed upset fan.............. a sort of acknowledgment and release of the boy........... by accepting the guilt .
this is the self fullfilling professy of labelling someone heartless they learn not to care about what such people say
but I don't buy into the reputation not being much only too ignore those that would despair you shine where the streets are not so tarred
I think she used a bit of sarcasm for this song. its like, she tried her best with the relationship and yet the jerk still finds her unfeeling, and its like "you think im cruel? ok then, what else is new?"
ah crap, forgot to spell check can I make corrections on this website? nope
self fulfilling prophesy of labeling
one of my favourite songs by emilie :)
Good interpretation, Matt. I think this is definitely along those lines. Emilie is saying that this "man" is above her and she yields to his ideas, but I feel that she is using this as a kind of way of telling him that he's wrong and she's done worrying about him. That's what i get from the jazzy, stylistic sound of the song. Perhaps I'm wrong and this is almost fit for the Opheliac album, which sets a new tone entirely
I pretty much agree; he was being cruel to or overprotective of her and she eventually said she'd had enough. He got upset and started acting depressed and calling her a shrew and, for a while, she was worried about his emotional well-being, but now she's just saying "whatever". I can relate all too much...
Sounds good... basically, they were together, they had problems- possibly in the idea of the line "I don't know what you really want from me But I don't fit in your reality" -she broke it off, with 'no good reason' in his eyes, so he considers her to be cruel and heartless... when she is simply getting away from a relationship she doesn't feel comfortable in.
