Jeez Louise Lyrics
Remembering Jeez Louise
And all of the bedroom window screens
Thrown away for our teenage dreams
Shacked up at Modesto Inn
And all of a sudden your mom crashed in
And she said: "No, she's not the one for you"
Yeah, your mom, she always hated me
Grab your keys, your clothes, your shoes
Jeez Louise you should have avoided me
Jeez Louise
Remembering Jeez Louise
A blanket in the summer evening breeze
Secrets shared in our youth released
Then one day they took you away
And all of a sudden your mom called me
And she said: "No, she's not the one for you"
Yeah, your mom, she always hated me
So just leave her broken, please
Jeez Louise you should have avoided me
Jeez Louise
Jeez Louise
Jeez Louise
And all of the bedroom window screens
Thrown away for our teenage dreams
And all of a sudden your mom crashed in
And she said: "No, she's not the one for you"
Yeah, your mom, she always hated me
Grab your keys, your clothes, your shoes
Jeez Louise you should have avoided me
A blanket in the summer evening breeze
Secrets shared in our youth released
And all of a sudden your mom called me
And she said: "No, she's not the one for you"
Yeah, your mom, she always hated me
So just leave her broken, please
Jeez Louise you should have avoided me

What a good song!
I don't know what thing song really means, but Modesto Inn is on Needham St. By HWY 108, reallybad side of town, so is modesto haha. I think the song is about they (the band) were teenagers and got a motel room to sleep with a girl. (in modesto that's common, specially in shitty motels in 9th st, kansas ave, crows landing etc.) I could be wrong, (99 perecent i'm wrong) Grandaddy will always be great.
Haha, thx for the extra info on Modesto! Adds a nice picture to what Jason's always been saying about his hometown... about the lyrics, i'm still not sure about the 'So just leave her -broken-, please' part... I keep hearing something different...
Jason Lytle said this was about a couple of X girl friends who coinsidently had middle a middle name of Louise and whose mother hated him. He booked a room for him and one of them when he was 16 and her mother found out....hence "Shacked up at Modesto Inn And all of a sudden your mom crashed". Great song, great band but looking forward to the solo stuff to.
"So just leave her broken, please"
that should be: "so just leave her alone, please."
and this song is probably the best punk-hardcore-rock song ever by Grandaddy.
the line is "so just leave her alone you lose" but it definately doesnt sound it
