Close the door and leave me inside.
I'll miss the fireworks burning in those eyes.
Remember the songs that we used to sing?
Come August I'll still be singing.
Don't be the one to fall out of line.
Watch the blue roses fall from your hands.
Remember summer when all had second chances?
Someday you'll see.
Come August, I'll still be singing.
Don't be the one to say goodbye.

I've gotta get out of here.
You're so cold.
I've gotta get out of here.

Someday those scribbled lines will be straight.
Conversations will never bare your name.

August came and left town
You're such a beautiful sound.
I remember the days when you used to call my name.
I was so blind to think you'd be the one.
Blue roses on her tongue.
You were a beautiful sound.
You were such a beautiful sound.

Don't be the one to fall out of line.
Don't be the one to say goodbye.

I've gotta get out of here.
You're so cold.
I've gotta get out of here.
It's what you wanted.

I think its about a summer love ending. But the guy doesnt want it to end, and he thinks that maybe next summer they can continue what they had "Don't be the one to fall out of line. Don't be the one to say goodbye"

Thats what I think it's about. I love it, another GREAT song by RotY

The Blue Roses - This song is probably my favorite song on the cd... Our next cd will have more slower songs like this on it.. While i was living in Cleveland, TN i went thru alot of hard times.. There was this girl in Fl that ment alot to me named Summer... and i was still dating my highschool sweetheart... well this highschool sweetheart girl... was treating me bad.. she had a new group of friends... and when i was out touring there was this guy she was starting to hangout alot with... and everybody in my town called him disease paul... haha.. yeah it sucked.. anyways... knowing that thats going on.. i really wanted to just end things... but 4 years of dating... i hate change... im afraid of it... seriously... I was young a dumb.. never just dropping her.. and going with Summer.. till it was to late... i could of showed Summer alot more care if I just ended it with Jeneane (highschool sweetheart for you slow learners out there).. So anyways... i did end of dropping Jeneane and dating Summer for abit.. but ended up moving back home to NC and like all good things.. well most.. they come to a end.. and i wrote this song for Summer.. "august ill still be singing" my birthday is in august... so that means every year.... Alot of people think as Summer the month and thats cool!! i wrote it so you can have your own thoughts and feelings for this song! But listen to the song after reading what i said.. and a pretty cool story comes out of it. (oh and yes i date a girl now named Whitney the Great and shes the best, hehe shell prob read this)

It is so true that music is the soundtrack to our lives. This song explains the last year of my life!

I agree that this song is about a summer romance ending, and I totally identify it after this summer!

"Come August, I'll still be singing." shows that he didn't want the romance to end at the summer, but then the second half of the song is about him getting over her.

After reading the blog though, I'm not sure if his anger is directed at the girl at home, or towards the Summer girl for ending their romance.

Still an absolutely amazing song though, love it loads, makes me upset though!

Ryans explanation really doesnt make any sense. I think maybe hewas just trying to cover up what the songs really about. Or maybe he didn't write it?

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.
