Here's to You Lyrics

Here she comes to ruin my day again
Right away she's start with shouting
Making this the best week ever
If only she could scream forever
Here she comes to pick at my faults again
Right away she's punching, kicking
Making this the best week ever
Better off dead than together
Stab your dagger right through my heart and twist
Does this turn you on?
Follow it up by punching my face with your fists
Does this turn you on?
Now on the ground, cut open both of my wrists
Does this turn you on?
Say you love me and suffocate me with a kiss
Whatever turns you on!

Chorus:
Here's to me calling off this war
Here's to me walking out that door
Here's to the only casualty
Here's to the mess you made of me

Here she comes to ruin my perfect game
Doctor says she's borderline insane
I don't know what i like better, being comatose or just being with her
Here she comes to point her fingers down at me
With all of her ten personalities
I don't know what i like better, saying goodbye or saying that i hate her
Stab your dagger right through my heart and twist
Does this turn you on?
Follow it up by punching my face with your fists
Does this turn you on?
Now on the ground, cut open both of my wrists
Does this turn you on?
Say you love me and suffocate me with a kiss
Whatever turns you on!

chorus

You always get to me
Always get to you
Always do your worst to get the best of me
Me always pushing you
Always pushing me
Always manage to bring out the worst on you!

chorus X2

Okay, I'm still typing this even though nobody will probably ever see it since ZH is one of the most underrated bands...but I'm going to. I LOOOVE ZebraHead. I first heard them on WWE: Day of Reckoning, the 2 songs being Falling Apart and Alone. I fell for their beat and lyrics...so I found more of their music. This song to me is another layer of "The Hell That is My Life".

Love/hate&on again/off again relationship, in which the bads are really bad, and yet somehow really good for him. Personally, I think he gets turned on by the pain, both physical and emotional. The whole situation is exaggerated throughout the song, or atleast I don't take it all literally...especially from good ol' ZH. They obviously mean something to eachother, I'd even go as far as to say they're in love...but they can't stop fighting! The passion behind their love/lust is so powerful that it overrides in all areas. I'm a firm believer in "you can't love somebody without hating them just a little."

This song completely reaffirms that idea in my mind. <3

My Opinion
Cover art for Here's to You lyrics by Zebrahead

This is NOT a song of love for a masochistic relationship as proven by the following points:

  1. "Chorus: Here's to me calling off this war Here's to me walking out that door Here's to the only casualty Here's to the mess you made of me"
  2. "I don't know what I like better, saying goodbye or saying that I hate her"

The misinterpretation from the above comment is due to the lack of understanding of sarcasm in the above lyrics. The song was written to be funny, however, the message is not recieved well on the average listener's analytical level, therefore, it's taken as a hateful break-up song, or a song for, the above mentioned, masochistic love, when all that it truly is is a funny, "in-your-face" message, not different from songs such as The All-American Reject's "Gives You Hell."
