Giving Up, Giving In Lyrics
I got no cash, got no girl,
Got the world in the palm of my hand.
I don't care if you care.
Or if you really understand.
Because I'm a little kid.
And I've got little problems.
And I don't give a shit if you don't understand.
Because:
I got me. That's all I need.
And I live comfortably,
and I sleep peacefully.
I give up.
I don't want to hear,
I don't want to be near you
your friends and your dime a dozen miseries.
I don't care if you care
about the way you wear your hair
or your shoes or your idiot attitude.
Don't stop because I want to hear your problems.
Don't you stop because I want to help you solve them.
Don't stop.
I give up.
I got no cash.
Got the world in the palm of my hand.
I don't care if you care.
Or if you really understand.
Because I'm a little kid.
And I've got little problems.
And I don't give a shit if you don't understand.
I got me. That's all I need.
And I live comfortably,
and I sleep peacefully.
Got the world in the palm of my hand.
I don't care if you care.
Or if you really understand.
Because I'm a little kid.
And I've got little problems.
And I don't give a shit if you don't understand.
I got me. That's all I need.
And I live comfortably,
and I sleep peacefully.
I don't want to hear,
I don't want to be near you
your friends and your dime a dozen miseries.
I don't care if you care
about the way you wear your hair
or your shoes or your idiot attitude.
Don't stop because I want to hear your problems.
Don't you stop because I want to help you solve them.
Don't stop.
I got no cash.

Has anyone else noticed that the guitar in this song is almost direct copy of "Run" by Frenzal Rhomb which came out 8 years earlier? Its like Ice Ice Baby and Under Pressure, except Streetlight Manifesto is awesome.
I couldn't tell what he said at the end of this song in the catch 22 version and I can't tell in this version. I was hoping they'd put it in the lyric book this time. Oh well. :-(
Oh! And don't insult this song. I love it.
If anyone figures out what the real lyrics are they should email me or something.
It goes "dont stop whatever I might say got a problem, about your day I'm moving things out the way"
It goes "dont stop whatever I might say got a problem, about your day I'm moving things out the way"
i was wondering for a long time, they are sung like that on purpose, the lyrics are at the end as best i know
"Don’t stop whatever I might say got a problem, About your day, I’m moving things out the way. i give up i got no cash."
This song is such a throwback to Tomas's old punk band. Recording this album must've felt like such a nostalgia trip.
After listening to the end of the song about 5 times, I think this is what he sais after "don't stop" and before "i give up":
"It's what my brother(mother?) said about a billion times and its running inside my brain"
I hope i'm right and i hope this helps.
wait, scratch that, i think its "5 billion times" not "a billion times"
Personally I always thought it said "I got no gas" instead of "I got no cash". Well anyways, obviously a song about not caring what others think, he's young and he can do whatever he wants even though he's got problems. People may not understand but he does what he wants.
Definitely an anti-emo song.
Does anyone noticed that the guitar in the bridge sounds a lot like the main riff from "Smells like Teen Spirit" by Nirvana? I think it is a tribute to Kurt Cobain who was some kind of Hero to Tomas.
The lyrics to this song are so good. Shame they're messed up with crappy vocals and music.
I still like it though.
