Pure MF Doom...confusing lyrics (albeit on purpose), a mix of pop culture references (comics), but also autobiographical with regards to MF alluding to his deceased Brother Dumile: "On Doomsday! Ever since the womb until I'm back where my brother went
It's a song about a mand making it in a confusing world. One note on the beat: Awesome! The Sade remake works perfectly. Hope that makes some sense:)
This is DOOMs style. Really intricate rhyme schemes that just flow seamlessly. The chorus part that says "that's what my tomb'll say" DOO purposely uses his last name (Dumile) as a homonym for DOOM'll lay. They are both pronounced the same, and they both make sense. Right above my government, Dumile (that's what will be on his headstone right above his real name.) Or it will say DOOM. Damm he's good
this just takes me on a trip to mf doom world, he makes a lot strange references and you gotta be quick on your toes and give it a few listens and know a little bit about the man but basically he's this "fly brown 6'0 sicko psycho who throws his dick around" and he "came to destroy rap" be like the jesus of rap by "turnin H20 to cogniac" and thinks mc's are all wack nowadays .... thats it in a sense... this dude is fuckin bad

This is one of my favorite jemz, and in my humble opinion one of of the greatest lyrical masterpieces of the last 30 years, not to mention the unbelievable production. Almost every couplet is like a set of die - multiple sides that change the fate of the lyric depending on how you approach them. Really an incredible work.
Two quick notes:
Im pretty sure he says "Hold mics like pony tails, tight, and bobalops" at the beginning. I have no idea what a 'bobalop' might be - it might be 'bobble ops.' There's definitely an 's' on the end of the last word tho, and it really sounds like a 'p' before that, which makes me doubt that it's just "bob a lot," even though that is in an ill line.
I also think he says: "Cell number 17, up under the top bunk, I say this not to be mean, was bad luck I was popped drunk" - meaning that he got arrested whilst drunk, and that was his bad luck. I think he just combines "I was" into "I's" and slurs the 'd' in 'drunk' making it sound like a 'j'.

The play on Jeopardy, where DOOM spits the answer first in the form of a question, then does an interpolation of "means to an end" but slangs to "mens" instead, which may be a very sly nod to the multiple characters in his universe allowing him to gain fame and achieve his goals. And then "rappers need to fall off just to save me the trouble" is just the illest line you could possibly spit in the middle of such a tour de lyrical force, followed by the idea that if you stay in the zone, you can perform a miracle even iller to DOOM than Jesus' water-to-wine. Truely a magnificent set of words.
