it seems about a relationship going backwards but then they get in a car accident so they never get a second chance
Best song in the whole album! And the first one to make mistake. I think the whole car ride thing is just a metaphor. It is about a relationship that goes back and forth and it really doesnt seem to be going anywhere but no one will put on the brakes or even say it outloud. They keep driving and going along for the ride.
