You Are Mine Lyrics
Everyone has their obsession
Consuming thoughts, consuming time
They hold high their prized posession
That defines the meaning of their lives
You are mine
You are mine
You are mine, oh mine
You are mine
There are objects of affection
That can mesmerize the soul
There is always one addiction
That just cannot be controlled
You are mine
You are mine
You are mine, oh mine
You are mine
Everyone has their obsession
Consuming thoughts, consuming time
They hold high their prized posession
They hold high their prized posession
Consuming thoughts, consuming time
They hold high their prized posession
That defines the meaning of their lives
You are mine
You are mine, oh mine
You are mine
That can mesmerize the soul
There is always one addiction
That just cannot be controlled
You are mine
You are mine, oh mine
You are mine
Consuming thoughts, consuming time
They hold high their prized posession

you christian music fans are annoying, every time someone says 'you' it has to be 'god' shut the hell up
I agree with dkspex23.... just because they're a christian band doesn't meen they talk about nothing but god. It just implies that there songs are often about christian topics.
What if this song is just talkign about obsessions in general?
After all, it says... "Everyone has their obsession, Consuming thoughts, consuming time, They hold high their prized posession, That defines the meaning of their lives"
So it seems to me it's just talking about obsession. How it exists with almost everyone in some shape or form. and then in the chorus he says "you are mine" Signifying that he knows what his obsession is.
Perhaps it's a song urging listeners to come to a realization of their own obsessions, so that in time they can get over them.
This is a really pretty song. It's about addiction, obsession...but really it's just a song saying how much he loves this girl. He's saying she's his obsession and he really loves her and couldn't live w/o her.
The song has a sad kind of atmosphere to it. I think the band is talking about materialism. You know, placing too much importance on the physical world - money, fame, image etc. It defines the meaning of their lives. Moreover, the song looks at materialists in a sorrowful way, not an angry one. "You are mine", keeping the band's christianity in mind, would be the word from God. God is saying that "They are mine", "They" being the obsessed materialistic people. Meaning that God is giving special time to the poor, obsessive materialistic people. They are for God to save.
"God god god god god" oh my "god" people, give it a rest. can't it just be about what's important to everyone? "everyone has their obsession." it can mean something different for everyone listening, so if an atheist is listening, i seriously doubt their obsession will be God. i'm not that religious-oriented, so the way i see this song is everyone values something in their life, and he's talking about whatever person he values. "objects of affection" and "always one addiction" don't really make god pop into my mind, but maybe that's just me.
If they hear God than it's about God. You sound intolerant and arrogant. Anyone who gets that frustrated by someone hearing God in the song has got his own set of issues. You're lucky that God likes you 'cause this sinner finds you annoying:)

I agree this could be about God, but I am not religious, so for me, this song is not about God. I find a lot of sensuality in this song, so whatever the song is about, it sounds like a great song to have sex to.
found Mute Math through iTunes free download... so naturally i come to SM.net to see there others songs... I love these lyrics so Im downloading it right now... ive only heard the begininng cuz it aint done but i love it..
this song is actually bout God and how he is an obsession that just cannot be controlled. everyone should have this outlook of God. amazing song. amazing band. awesome live show.
I agree, although it could also be God's obsession with us humans in that he loves us so much
It can be really any addiction. Although "Defines the meaning of their life" could be somebody he/she lives for. They could live for the person, and they are the only person that makes them continue life. Or it could be God, because (I don't believe in god) supposedly is WHY you are on the earth, it's the meaning of your life is to serve god (that's the super religious reason) which I don't agree with personally. I think its just about a person that he lives for and is practically addicted to the person.
