NO COMMENTS? WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE? Well anyways just wanna say that this is a great song...for some reason, it just gives me the image of a ghost falling in love with a mortal...I don't know. Maybe thats what they were trying to convey...well its done very good...this song gives me the creeps every time I hear it...

I prefer the "old" version. It was disappointing to get the CD and notice that that it was different. :[

This is my favorite I am Ghost song of all time. Sadly..it reminds me of my x boyfriend..:( but i still love it. I like the older version a lot better though.

To me, this really has a bit of the 'star-crossed lovers' vibe to it.
Two people that cannot, in some way, be together... and are trying to find a way around that.

'We are always searching' --symbolizing them searching for a way to be together.

'Is this the last of our haunting' --Them wondering if this will possibly be the end of their pain, in which they can finally be together.

And yes, I agree with NataliesADDICTION about the whole a ghost falling in love with a mortal type thing. The song seems to also have that kind of vibe to it.

It's an amazing song.

definitely a brilliant song. it got me into them. but the 'new' version certainly lacks the depth that the original portrayed so well. it's a tad over-produced. and i dislike the way they've insisted on extending all the last lines of the verses and choruses. just sounds odd to me.

great song though...

to me this song is about the search for love&friendship. those are two great things that should last forever, but there's so many times when you think "this could be it" and it's not.

"In these coffins made of gold With friends and lovers freshly buried" this is a reference to the people who once meant a lot to you, but now are "dead" to you. gold coffins equate to the good times with them that are now just memories.

'"Is this the last of our haunting?" she says as she floats like an angel "You will never know until you let me go, I'm hoping this will never end."' this line is the saddest to me. everyone else is gone and now the two friends/lovers are asking themselves if their relationship will last or go to rot like everyone else. but of course neither knows.

those two portions stood out the most to me.

i love this song. i love this band. my life hasn't been the same since my sister&i went to one of their shows. it was definitely one of the best experiences of my life. this songs also reminds me of that, since none of their other shows i've been to have compared to that first show but i keep going anyway, hoping to reennact that amazing night...

I think that everyone reads to much into these songs. Well... I think that they have meaning, but mostly they're stories. Awesome vampire stories. =] Hehe.

^ This is the starting of the story, just telling the setting. A bunch of vampires on Halloween are getting togather for an occasion where they have to look their best.

^ I think the "her" is the queen in the next verse. she protects them because it's her duty and they don't have to worry and can dance. Obviously if the sun rises they'll... Do whatever vampires do when the sun rises (it depends on what you believe). Part of who vampires are are just beings who are always searching. What are they searching for? Maybe their queen? I'm not really sure.

I'm not sure what it means to be crowned victorian... It would probably help if I did... "is this the last of our haunting?" basically "are we done searching?" and "you will never know untill you let me go, I'm hoping this will never end" I'm not entirely possitive about.
