Minus Something Lyrics

[instrumental]

"There's been alot of upsetting, very upsetting things that I can't allow to happen anymore. I have to be like a soldier and march away. 'Cause I'm very delicate in a lot of ways, and things get to me, and effect me...in a very adverse manner. I don't need that; don't need that. I feel now like minus something, you know, I feel faded; I don't feel like I'm all here. I think it'll come back; I hope it'll come back. There's alot of color missing, from the way I feel, and my face, and, you know, just everything. There's some kind of zest, or...life, you know, that seems to be faded temporarily, because I've been so drained, emotionally, by a number of things. That has to slowly build back up, and then it has to be kept sustatined; it cannot be allowed to be diminished."

I think it was a phone sex operator. The "Prisoner" guy was being monitered by the FBI. What he did is unknown.

The vocals (from the sampling) in this song sound so...faded, tired, and I guess you could say, worn-out. It fits with the rest of the album so well (the whole idea about old age, deteroration, etc, which was further enforced by the title of their last live album "Swans Are Dead").

Anyone know where they got the vocals from, or who performed them? That goes for I Was a Prisoner In Your Skull, too.

On the website that Gira created to release Swans albums, Young God Records, if you dig deep enough you'll find that Jarboe had a series of tapes from FBI field interviews. I seem to recall reading that her father was an FBI agent, but don't quote me on that.

To the best of my knowledge, the samples you hear on Soundtracks are the sole property of Jarboe. Pity. I'd love to hear them.

This song is two minutes too long at the end, but still very awesome.

@FaaipDeOaid Hmm disagree, I like how it slowly builds/goes on.

Anyone else think this sounds like the same guy that delivered that weird religious monologue on "Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven?"
