Swans – Greed Lyrics
|
@The Hammered:
Not that the song is about a scenario like this, but: There was this girl i had really strong feelings for, but she didn't want to further our relationship. We had gone from really good friends to not talking to each other, mostly because I kept distant from her because I wasn't sure how to feel about her anymore. the line was blurry on if she wanted to still remain friends, but she at least gave me the time of day but i kept a distance from her emotionally and physically. it was greedy of me to do so and even though I knew it was wrong to treat her like i was i did not want to have to deal with something I had no ...win in.
That explain the title a little?

This is easily in the Top 10 for remixes that slaughter the original. Using the bridge from the original as the chorus for the remix = genius move. |

How To Destroy Angels – A Drowning Lyrics

Yeah, this is kinda disappointing... Ghosts stuff (which isn't that great) with lyrics... At least The Space in Between gives hope of a decent album, but I'm not sold... Reznor needs to ditch the whole club beat sound, he tried that on The Fragile and didn't get any better at it on With Teeth or the horrid Year Zero. I personally thought he was going to take a more Body Lovers approach to his music, but he is staying the course with the pop thing. Power to him, but he really should take a more radical approach to his stuff, his gifts are being wasted! |

I agree. The Swans Are Dead version is awesome: everything from the folky vocals sample intro to the pounding instrumental that dominates the recording, greta great song live. But I don't dig the studio verison as much : /

We will never live in a perfect world; something will always fall short and ruin what could have made a "perfect" (universe). Best song on the album. |

Good god, the live version on Swans Are Dead is second to only Helpless Child on that album. That intro is so chaotic, yet makes perfect, beautiful sense when it seeps into the actual song. Song has a sense of longing to it, as is somewhat stated above. Beautiful, sorrowful, haunting... |

I disagree. The first three tracks are great, the next four suck, and the last three are meh. This is my favourite track from it though. |

This song has nothing to do with Perry. It has to do with Eric. Eric came up with the idea for the song and Perry wrote lyrics based on Eric finding out his father wasn't his real father. |

You know, it's music like this that makes me never want to touch my guitar again - because music like this cannot be topped in beauty. It just can't. GG everyone. |

Damn that bass line that never climaxes! Love this song. Groovy, in its own abstract way. No idea what it is about. |

Skinny Puppy – Ugli Lyrics

I think this song clearly has some sort of religion vs drugs (MJ to be more exact) thing to it. The first verse in particular (and pretty much the whole song) says that religion fucks your mind up more than drugs do. I think the "All hail the king; the edge of your world" line basically says that you can get more out of marijuana than regilion. Keep in mind, Dave is pro-marijuana. Well, that's my take on it.
As for the chants of "Jesus wants to be ugli", I always thought it meant that Jesus wants others to feel sorry for him. |

Amazing song; I love the gfirst half and tend not to listen to the second half. The "I was lost and I’m still lost but I feel so much better" is so brilliantly haunting. |

Nine Inch Nails – 1,000,000 Lyrics

Yup, another example of why Nine Inch Nails should have stopped after The Fragile. Everything after has stunk soooo bloody badly, it's hard to be a fan anymore. What's Reznor doing? No wonder this was free, it's brutal. He should start trying again.
And this crap over Stinkfist? Calm down. But let's not get started on that debate.

Lyric for lyric, this song is excellent. Just excellent. "A blindness that touches perfection but hurts like like anything else" - what tops that? About the "ashamed" part - Ian (supposedly) hated and was ashamed that he had these attacks on stage. |

Swans – I'll Swallow You Lyrics

Oh Jesus
Oh God
I kissed you
I liked it
You are my only life
Only...
Can you help me save your soul?
Save your soul! Save your soul!
Can you help me save your soul?!
I love myself
I was made for myself
If I kissed you I lied
I am made to be admired
You made a mistake
When you pressed your lips to mine
I inhale what I see
I steal what I breathe
You are mine only mine
You are mine only mine
I will swallow you
I will swallow you
You are mine now
I will swallow you
You are mine only mine
I will swallow you
You are mine only mine
I will swallow you
I think this song is about not living up to (in particular, the church's/religions) expectations and wishes; we are our own person and are free to do what we please. We weren't born to ... serve, in a sense.
The beginning of the song seems to be someone (let's call he/she Person +) falling for (religion) and begs for his soul to be saved. Then during the second half, it appears the (religion) Person + was worshiping shows us its true colours/agenda as it takes over Person +.
That's one way to look at it; it's how I see it anyways. |

Whoever said that that Futureheads shit was better than the original needs to rethink their stance. I looked this Futureheads version up on youtube and listened to no more than a minute (heck, if even that long) before calling it quits. Utter shite.
Kate's version is better, no argument whatsoever. Pay no attention to these pro-Futurehead people. |

Nine Inch Nails – In This Twilight Lyrics
| 16 years ago
|
lol, it's funny when a remix album is better than the parent album. Case in point, In This Twilight (Fennesz) kills the original by a long shot.
Come on Trent, NIN has been on a downward spiral of it's own since post-TDS. Get your head together, man! Nothing solid since TDS. Not that I'm saying every release should be a 5 star, but the man obviously has talent, but he isn't putting it ... out there, ya know? All his interesting stuff goes to others (Manson and Williams collaborations).
For the record, I believe YZ should have been a Trent Reznor release, not an NIN release. No rewind button : ( |

Some of you may disagree with his "anti-Israeli" viewpoints, but he is right. Israel is a bloody mess and they need to get their act together. I don't get how people can't see it.
This song was amazing when I saw it live at the Rogers Centre in Toronto.
"Don't let the might of the Christian right fuck it all up for you and the rest of the world." I believe that line got a huge cheer. |
