People Watching Lyrics

Well I’m just people watching, the other people watching me
We’re all people watching, the other people watching we

We’re as lonely as we want it to be
We’re all as lonely as we want it to be
Just as lonely as we want it to be
I’m just you, you’re just me
It’s only true, if we believe

Well there really ain’t no use in stopping
What nobody never told me not to do
So I’ll keep people watching
Watching me now
Finding my way back to you

We’re as lonely as we want it to be
We’re all as lonely as we want it to be
I’m just as lonely as we want it to be
I’m just you, you’re just me
It’s only, true if we believe

I see so many feet going so many ways
People passing by they got nothing to say
On our own just watching and confused
Well if nobody told me what to do
I guess I’m breaking all the rules

Well I’m just people watching the other people watching me
We’re all people watching the other people watching we

We’re as lonely as we want it to be
We’re not so lonely as we want it to be
I’m just as lonely as I want it to be
Not so lonely
Lonely (x6)

I think it's about how people say they're lonely but they really only are because they're living in their own world and not acknowledging anyone else. There are so many lonely people who wouldn't be if they stopped just watching eachother and started a conversation.

"I see so many feet going so many ways People passing by they got nothing to say"

This reminds me of the city when it's busy. In the streets is a huge crowd of people who are all together in the same place but totally disconected from eachother.

Soo true!

Upon listening to this for the first time, the first thing that pops in my head...

Well I'm just people watching, the other people watching me

Talking about how we act and dress and live according to what we always think the others think we are or how they think we should be. So in the end your not yourself, you`re what others think you are, so in the end your just people watching, other people watching me...

Its super clear in my head but I cant make it make sense in text , but hopefully you understand :)

I feel you! :)

He did this album for Curious George... it really reminds me of being in a zoo? I dunno... I got that out of it. It's a great song!

I think this song is about people just living in their own little world and not being aware of whats going on around them. In the verse starting with "i see so many feet..." its like hes saying that people are just living their individual life and not being aware... but he's saying he's breaking the rules because he does see it. People are lonely in their own little world...

i dont know, i could be wrong.

great interp. superman.. because Jack is Curious George's "voice" in the movie (George can't actually speak for himself), Jack tells what it's like for the lovable monkey to be in the zoo, saying that things may seem bad, but they are only bad when you believe they are, hence "We're as lonely as we want it to be". hope this helps.

Interestingly enough, this song was originally on In Between Dreams, but was cut from the final product.
