Forever

To me, this is absolutely a relationship song. The song title and chorus just make it obvious to me. Here is my breakdown of the song:

--He's trying to hide from the pain. He's trying to escape the disappointment and heartbreak of the relationship. There's a price in blood means that living life has it's price, and that price is pain. When you love somebody, it hurts more when they abandon you or mistreat you. Wont you rise above is saying, basically, get over it. Rise above it all. There's a price in love saying that love, like life, has a cost. You open yourself up to somebody and are left vulnerable.

--This is his mind growing tired of thinking about the relationship. He's depressed, and he's tired of the depression. There's no way to hide from the reality of it all and no way to hide from the pain he still feels.

So tell me a story about your life I don�t mind, I don�t mind Wont you tell me?- that will be just fine. I don�t mind, idle mind. Singin� songs about the �Auld Lang Syne� I don�t mind, I don�t mind�

--This is him talking to his girlfriend (perhaps even only in his own head). He wants her to console him and tell him it'll all be OK. Idle mind is just him confessing that he's not thinking or worrying in this moment. He's sitting by her (again, perhaps even in his own head) and soaking it in. Singin songs about the Auld Lang Syne is obvious. He's recalling his memories with her.

--Forever is, to me, him saying he'll love her forever. That's why it is said so softly. He wants to take all of her "sins", or her baggage. He goes on to tell her that nobody will understand or know her like he does. Now, instead of telling the listener that it hurts when it's someone you love, he's telling her (once more, COULD be him saying this to her in his own mind). He wants her to rise above all of their failure and hurt and whatnot and come back (to me, this is reinforced by the last "forever" after it).

I see the car that your mom keeps sending, when I breathe it feels just like my life is ending. I think of the one that I most respected and all the words that I�m now regretting. Id hold them now, but i'm bruised and beaten and I�m alone and I�ve barely eaten. And it seems just like the way it goes that down the road we may have known about the love in both of us we push and shove, betray the trust, don�t let this make a fool of us i'm tired hungry broke and just wish I could come back home

--This proves, for my theory anyway, that he is depressed. Maybe he's talking to her still in his head, perhaps on the phone. Her and her family are worried, so they send people to check on him. He is still in a lot of pain. He thinks of her, and he regrets saying certain things to her (could be bad things, or it could be telling her he loves her, as that is hard to cope with when you get broken up with). He'd hold those words, thoughts, and feelings in, but he's so beat up about the breakup. He's alone and malnourished (duh). The little run at the end is him making a last ditch effort at begging. He knows that they both know that they love each other. They fight and betray the trust in the relationship, but he doesn't want that to be the cause of the end (don't let this make a fool of us). He's completely miserable and he just wants to go back "home," which is with her.

To me, this proves that this is a relationship song. In a fight, he called her bluff that she wouldn't leave. And instead of just leaving (but that just wasn't good enough), she ruined him emotionally, and it hurt her to do so (tears ran down the face I loved).

So, with all of that, I think you can see it is obviously a relationship song. At least, by the interpretation itself. I'm sure there are a couple ways one could look at the song.
