I think this is my favorite FoT song. The Ghostships tell and excellent story about an encounter between the crew of a ship and another Ghostship and all of the crazy shit that goes down.
The songs have kind of a dreamlike element to them, as if the characters are trapped in some kind of Hell. The songs can get pretty creepy at times.
I think this particular Ghostship tells the story of one of the crew members who goes insane and hears the voice of some demon in his head. I assume that the stanzas beginning with "God's not a goldmine..." are the things the demon is telling the character of the story.
How do you know all this??? Not complaining though, i think its better when you know what a songs about, if anything. Dunno why, it just is. Anyway... i love how this starts, and the solo near the end. i love it all, its awesome. Especially the murder screaming at the end.
I agree, the lyrics are probably being said by the demon (possibly the Devil) to the crew member

I think it's amazing the way he can sing of this, it's so much of a tongue twister for me at the speed he screams and sings it. Like, "God's not a goldmine, God's on the inside selling everybody on the front lines out. Did you think you were rightside in or maybe inside out?"
I can sing the first part, but I just get lost after that.

Enejey, I've been listening to that part of the song over and over and I think you are right.
I almost get this as some sort of political struggle kind of thing in this guys head. I normally hate political songs, but its done beautifully. Like, he wants to believe in the justice in his cause, but is also struck with the fact that what he's doing is murder. It can go from either party here in our good ol U. S. of A.
I think at this point, all of the crew are eaten by two important members of the crew. And one of the crew members is going crazy and hearing voices and wants to be the only person to survive.
