Saturdays Lyrics
Saturday what a day what a silly little day
Time to kill take a pill as I sit and contemplate
How I’d like to be around all the people in the town
With their fancy cars and things
And I have got time
Stop pushing all your tragedies away
Each moment has got a lesson for the day
Take something with you
We can’t drag our heels in yesterdays
Oh these Saturdays
In the haste in the grace I’ve had up to my waist
It isn’t real what you feel when you find love in a chase
I’ve been waiting for the day when someone takes me away
And I’d never get replaced
But I have got time
Stop pushing all your tragedies away
Each moment has got a lesson for the day
Take something with you
We can’t drag our heels in yesterdays
Oh these Saturdays
These Saturdays, oh
As I sink one more drink I am running out of ink
I’m feeling void paranoid about every little thing
And I wonder if I tried to give up and say goodbye
If I’ll have the strength to leave
Cause I don’t have much time anymore
Stop pushing all your tragedies away
Each moment has got a lesson for the day
Take something with you
We can’t drag our heels in yesterdays
Oh these Saturdays
These Saturdays, now
These Saturdays now, baby
Time to kill take a pill as I sit and contemplate
How I’d like to be around all the people in the town
With their fancy cars and things
And I have got time
Each moment has got a lesson for the day
Take something with you
We can’t drag our heels in yesterdays
Oh these Saturdays
It isn’t real what you feel when you find love in a chase
I’ve been waiting for the day when someone takes me away
And I’d never get replaced
But I have got time
Each moment has got a lesson for the day
Take something with you
We can’t drag our heels in yesterdays
Oh these Saturdays
These Saturdays, oh
I’m feeling void paranoid about every little thing
And I wonder if I tried to give up and say goodbye
If I’ll have the strength to leave
Cause I don’t have much time anymore
Each moment has got a lesson for the day
Take something with you
We can’t drag our heels in yesterdays
Oh these Saturdays
These Saturdays, now
These Saturdays now, baby

why haven't people heard of holly brook? this song is amazing. great vocals. the song, with it's almost-pop tune and holly's mesmerizing voice - stays in your head long after you stopped listening to it. nice. reminds me of fiona apple and PSAPP and imogen heap.
i like. :)
Me love this song. PERIOD. and like her apparently I've wrote many songs on meaningless Saturdays as well.
beautiful. period.
These lyrics are wrong is places. Here they are, according to Holly.
Saturday what a day what a silly little day Time to kill take a pill as I sit and contemplate How I'd like to be around all the people in the town with their fancy cars and things But I've got time
STOP PUSHIN ALL YOUR TRAGEDIES AWAY EACH MOMENT HAS GOT A LESSON FOR THE DAY TAKE SOMETHING WITH YOU IF YOU DRAG YOUR HEELS IN YESTERDAYS OH THESE SATURDAYS
In the haste in the grace I've been up to my waist It isn't real what you feel when you find love in a chase I've been waiting for the day when someone takes me away and I never get replaced But I've got time
STOP PUSHIN ALL YOUR TRAGEDIES AWAY EACH MOMENT HAS GOT A LESSON FOR THE DAY TAKE SOMETHING WITH YOU IF YOU DRAG YOUR HEELS IN YESTERDAYS OH THESE SATURDAYS
As I sink one more drink I am running out of ink Feeling void paranoid about every little thing And I wonder if I try to get up and say goodbye if I'll have the strength to leave Cuz I don't have much time anymore
I like this song. It's very... Light. There's something about Holly Brook's music that makes me slightly uncomfortable, but in a good way. It's kind of strange.
Every experience of a heartache changes me significantly. The lyrics speak to me as if that change I go through is that "lesson".
I believe this song is about someone is who is in a miserable relationship, where their significant other disappears and is probably cheating on them.
To me, these lyrics are giving the message that you should take your experiences and use them as a lesson so that in the future you do not repeat your mistakes... and in this case waste time.
I will further explain:
"Saturday what a day what a silly little day Time to kill take a pill as I sit and contemplate How I'd like to be around all the people in the town with their fancy cars and things But I've got time" -Saturday is known to be a "hang out" day, globally people recognize Sat. as a non-business day and many will go out and experience leisure. It's a "time to kill" day. Instead she takes a pill (I like Midol... I take it for 7 days in a month), to probably relax herself from a flood of thoughts and she begins to re-examine her stressing relationship. She would rather be outside, enjoying her time with friends and admiring fancy stuff. However, she feels as is she has to prioritize thinking through her stressful thoughts.
"In the haste in the grace I've been up to my waist It isn't real what you feel when you find love in a chase I've been waiting for the day when someone takes me away and I never get replaced But I've got time" She has to urgently take action in this relationship... it's the haste in the grace she is referring to. She does not know what is truly going, however, she does know that he is not there with her. These Saturdays are VERY significant, she should not have much time these Saturdays because she should be spending them with him. She is also aware that she is chasing after his love and it is not" true love" since it is not mutual. Her intuition is telling her that he is cheating on her, she knows that she has been tragically "replaced". She feels terrible because she has been expecting a loving relationship, where someone "takes her away" and never leaves/replaces her. I also get the sense that she feels conned, as if her time, days have been wasted and is also starting to realize that it would be best if she leaves the relationship.
"As I sink one more drink I am running out of ink Feeling void paranoid about every little thing And I wonder if I try to get up and say goodbye if I'll have the strength to leave Cuz I don't have much time anymore" She is drinking, intoxicating herself to try to ease her tragic thoughts. I believe that the "ink" is her soul/emotions/trust in others and she is losing that "ink" due to the consequence of a tragic relationship. Since she is going by her intuition, the thoughts of maybe being paranoid are also going through her mind. I believe that she is placing the thought of being paranoid in her head, because an ounce of hope for the relationship still lingers and she is afraid of leaving the relationship. She could be afraid for various reasons, but she knows that she doesn't want to waste anymore time on dying relationship and needs to separate for her own good.
"STOP PUSHIN ALL YOUR TRAGEDIES AWAY EACH MOMENT HAS GOT A LESSON FOR THE DAY TAKE SOMETHING WITH YOU IF YOU DRAG YOUR HEELS IN YESTERDAYS OH THESE SATURDAYS" She will leave dragging herself out of the relationship. When she does it will change her. The advise given is to look at the relationship as a lesson and take that into the future so that the same tragic relationship will not repeat itself with a new love. It's kinda saying, do not waste your time on something worthless and hurtful to you.
