Just Like Heaven Lyrics

Show me how you do that trick
The one that makes me scream he said
The one that makes me laugh he said
And threw his arms around my neck
Show me how you do it
And I promise you I promise that
I'll run away with you
I'll run away with you

Spinning on that dizzy edge
I kissed his face and kissed his head
And dreamed of all the different ways I had
To make him glow
Why are you so far away? he said
Why won't you ever know that I'm in love with you
That I'm in love with you

You, soft and only
You,lost and lonely
You, strange as angels
Dancing in the deepest oceans
Twisting in the water
You're just like a dream
You're just like a dream

Daylight licked me into shape
I must have been asleep for days
And moving lips to breathe his name
I opened up my eyes
And found myself alone alone
Alone above a raging sea
That stole the only boy I loved
And drowned him deep inside of me

You, soft and only
You, lost and lonely
You, just like heaven

You, soft and only
You, lost and lonely
You, just like heaven

i've fallen in love with the lyric "why are you so far away he said / why won't you ever know that i'm in love with you" surreal, to such an honest extent. its far too often i feel this way or see another slighted by the feeling that they perceive unrequited adoration and love whilst their partner goes along unknowing.

sad. but beautiful.

Eurgh. I really hate this cover. Her voice just sounds so pansy-ish on it. What I was really irked about though was why she had to change all the 'she's to 'he's. It doesn't flow so well. I don't know why she couldn't leave it like that unless she's scared of being called a leasbien or something, which wouldn't really happen any way, being as she didn't even write this.

Hmm.. I have a lot of anger lol.

Awful, dreadful, shocking, terrible. So many words, so little time.

This is just another decent song viciously destroyed by this wave of jazz-pop artists. This version is totally unlistenable.

I like the song a lot, although I'd have to say that while I don't hate this version, I prefer the Cure.

jesus christ this song sucks compared to the cure's version

This is a great interpretation of the Cure's song, its fresh, its soothing and her voice doesn't have to fight over the other instruments like The Cure's version. I have heard both versions, but it wasn't until I heard Katie's that I notice how great the lyrics are. Her voice brings the intimate meaning of what Smith's was trying to say when he wrote it.

My Opinion

This version sucks, The Cure's original is great, and Dinosaur Jr.'s version is just the tits.

My Opinion

I think this song is about the singer's uncontrollable fear of becoming attached to someone she has feelings for. The subject first asks her why she isn't in love, and then realizes that she's lost and lonely due to her inability to let herself love. She only dreams of the ways she can express her love, but can't overcome her fears of abandonment deep down and truly show him. She wakes up and realizes that because of her fears and turbulent feelings, the one she feared so much of loosing is gone, in a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Song Meaning

I quite like her version. Yeh the cures is way way better. But i guess it's hard to cover such a classic. But her version is a lot softer and tells it from a girl's point of view i think

i find this song to be superficial and metaphorical

i think its talking about a strictly sexual relationship and later finds out that they both are in love

while they are still in love he finds out that she is dead and that he is still in love with her

(it is reported that ones of roberts smith girlfriend did drown and die)

THATS MY INTERPRETATION OF THE SONG. IM NOT HERE TO ARGUE JUST TO GIVE MY OPINION

JUST GIVE ME FEEDBACK ON WHAT YOU THINK OF MY OPINION

None of Robert's girlfriends drowned and died. He only ever had one girlfriend, to whom he is married currently. Otherwise, your interpretation is good.
