Sounds Of Life Lyrics
It seems like you're waiting for nothing,
Looks like time had deleted it all,
It may be everything that could have been was thrown away,
So just take what is left, don't somehow fill the space,
When I can see through it, oh I feel safe again,
I feel warmer...
[Chorus]
Sounds of life outside
Why do I retire
Sounds of life outside
One by one...
Got nothing to hide…
One by one
Couldn't have seen it come, from an inch away,
But it's here, right on time,
Wait for the flash of grey and we will feel the same,
If we can just drift for a while,
When I'm back on the ground I feel safe again,
I feel warmer...
Sounds of life outside
Why do I retire
Sounds of life outside
One by one...
Got nothing to hide…
Sounds of life outside
Why do I retire
Sounds of life outside
One by one...
Got nothing to hide…

you gotta luv that song
Great song... simple, but very chill and uplifting in a zen kind of way.
Not really much to interpret... like Hold Your Colour, although a little more bluntly, it seems like a song about making the best of things as they are.
In the first verse the "voice" in the song is recovering from the shock of a tragedy, and realizing that for anything lost, a world of possibilities still remain. The second verse is the "voice" is feeling a numbing sense of doubt about what could've/should've been, mixed with guilt since she feels she failed in preventing the tragedy. The chorus is the "voice" waking up to the world outside the veil of negative emotion she's created around herself in response to the event the song is centered around.
