Junkyard Lyrics
You, me, and all the kings and queens
Buried in the junkyard,
And every time the herald Cherub sings
We rattle with the car parts
I was born to lie here patiently
Be dragged on by the black star
And you were told to glow majestically
And love until your hands bleed
You stole your mother's whitest gown
Swallowed like a sunbeam
And I stole your father's crusted crown
It shook us like a bad dream
They warned to lie impatiently
Waiting for the big swing
And you were more than dressing for a feast
Eat until your teeth bleed
Oh my royalty my hand goes out to you
You look painfully true
But I saw you cry
Like you used to laugh
When you looked around
Were you looking back
At a lonely love
As to sprouting beans
No one's quite as bloom
As they play to be
I would love to stay
But my work is through
I'm the truest song
That was never true
Buried in the junkyard,
And every time the herald Cherub sings
We rattle with the car parts
I was born to lie here patiently
Be dragged on by the black star
And you were told to glow majestically
And love until your hands bleed
You stole your mother's whitest gown
Swallowed like a sunbeam
And I stole your father's crusted crown
It shook us like a bad dream
They warned to lie impatiently
Waiting for the big swing
And you were more than dressing for a feast
Eat until your teeth bleed
Oh my royalty my hand goes out to you
You look painfully true
But I saw you cry
Like you used to laugh
When you looked around
Were you looking back
At a lonely love
As to sprouting beans
No one's quite as bloom
As they play to be
I would love to stay
But my work is through
I'm the truest song
That was never true

i wanted to add this one. damn.
this was so sweet, its about young innocent pure love and looking back on it. I love this song
I agree Tarks....all around.
this is one of my favorite songs.
"I was born to lie here patiently Be dragged on by the black star And you were told to glow majestically And love until your hands bleed"
This line hit me particularly hard, because I always feel as if girls are practically ordered to sweet and loving, and this ideal little girlfriend package. 'love until your hands bleed' gives a beautiful, breif image of the whole experience.
glow majestically And love until your hands bleed.
wonderful, if not terrible/
I absolutely love.. "You look painfully true But I saw you cry Like you used to laugh"
I think it's about making the memory of a relationship out to be better than it really was.
i saw these guys live a cornerstone almost by accident, it was awesome. he sang the song a little different and it gave me an entirely new perspective of it, it sounded almost sad.
i love how their lyrics are so simple but meaningful beautiful song :)
I've read something about how Page France doesn't realize that he's writing with spiritual overtones: "As for the Christian symbols in my writing - sometimes I don’t even realize that they exist until someone points them out to me." But I don't see how you can overlook that in this song. "Buried in the junkyard" I think refers to everyone here on earth... "And love until your hands bleed" is a reference to Jesus on the cross
Now there are a few more underlying allusions... but I'm not saying everything he is saying is scripturally sound. I just think it's definitely there.
it's all still fairly ambiguous...
