No Right Angles Lyrics
I've been thinking 'bout the straight and narrow,
slip sliding round the back of my hand.
Keep turning and it's almost tomorrow.
I'll find a way to make you understand
there are no right angles in my life.
No right angles in my life
Right now I'm hearing nothing but silence.
High beams are on -- I can feel you.
Every piece contains a little bit of violence
and you've changed so much but it's still you.
No right angles in my life
No right angles in my life
So breathe.
Feel the open space.
Leave it all behind.
Coming into grace.
No right angles in my life.
There are no right angles in my life
Suspicious minds and you're back on the warpath.
All the things you think are up my sleeve.
Though you tell me that I'm just like a circle,
somehow you still don't believe.
There are no right angles in my life
There are no right angles in my life
So dream.
Let your body play
anyone in need.
Give it all away
No right angles in my life
There are no right angles in my life
I've been thinking 'bout the straight and narrow,
slip sliding round the back of my hand.
Keep turning and it's almost tomorrow.
Find a way to make you understand.
Please
Taste the sea you sail.
Baby, I believe.
There's no way you can fail.
No right angles in my life.
There are no right angles in my life.
There are no right angles in my life.
slip sliding round the back of my hand.
Keep turning and it's almost tomorrow.
I'll find a way to make you understand
there are no right angles in my life.
No right angles in my life

what i got from the song was "i'm not perfect/not everything is right with me" and "you should be happy with yourself" though, i dont know if thats what ben was trying to say. i love this song though.
I think what Ben is trying to say in this song is that in life there are no definites. There is no black and white issues. He believes in the grey area. Some girl thinks she knows him too well but he's trying to say that he's unpredictable, just like life. This whole album is about experiencing things you want to experience, not what someone tells you is right. Sorry if this seems a little bit overblown, it's just what I think. :) Good song by the way.
Like musicloverisme said, this song is probably about a girl. He wants to keep going forward instead of going around in circles and going back to the girl. He doesn't care if she's changed, he can't go back to her. He doesn't really seem to hate her, but kind of wishes her good luck and to have fun when she goes on her seperate way.
This is what I personally got from the song: A right angle is a 90-degree angle which looks like "L", this "L" shape makes me think of a life that is very narrow, close minded, straight forward, black and white. Like someone leading a careful life, afraid of taking risks and chances, lives day-to-day by strict guidelines. Then later on in the song it shows that he or she no longer lives such a life “no right angles in my life” and is trying to prove verbally to someone. I know this meaning is probably not what Ben is trying to say, but this is what it means to me.
Ben mentioned at a concert that this song was inspired by the grid system in New York City, and how no one's life is that perfect. We don't always go in those clear-cut directions.
