this song has a very intense dazed feel to it. all the lyrics seem to be said when someone's totally out of it and all they know is that they just want to be with someone, feel wanted right now. They dont know if it'll last forever, but they definitely want something to happen at that moment.
my question is...what do you think the medication is? do you think they mean literal medication? or do you think it is a broader sense. maybe...this is walking out on a limb...maybe "love" is the medication i.e. chemistry...i don't really know. i like to think...this is just what i think...so...this guy has totally lost it "too much to smoke, too much to drink." he has tried to use these two things to "take away the pain," but it isn't/hasn't worked. so he is looking for something bigger and better. and honestly. when i'm being held everything feels better. maybe these two being together is his medication - or the thing that makes him feel better.
my conclusion. medication is a metaphor for "love"
i don't care what it means. i just love the "can you feel it? do you feel it coming down..." part.
I think this song is about how the guy is addicted to this girls love like some "medication". It makes him feel better, and its like there is no way he can see himself without her.

well first off i love this song. the beginning part is soo cool how it starts the song and it fits soo well those beats in the beginning. absolutely genious
anyways song meaning in taylors opinion; actually i have to disagree. i believe that the medication is a metaphor for all the things that he doesnt want to show the girl. all his flaws and mistakes that hes trying to cover up like the beginning of the song is explaining i dont wanna tell you where i am ive had to much to smoke and drink. basically hes saying i dont want u to see me like this, at my lowest point. the medication is him trying to fix all his problems he doesnt want Her to know about.

Yeah i agree with taylorkay. i love the beginning how its just the main tune carrying you. and.. i loove the part where he goes "can you feel it" just like bigpkl001
but dont you think that if the "medication" metaphore was to be compared to love....he wouldn't put MY infront of it...i dont know i just think he would put OUR medication. unless of course she doesnt feel like him..who knows..
