Living on the Outside of Your Skin Lyrics
Come and speak to me, my friend. Forget the words that you think you were saying. Cause your thoughts seem to be thinking otherwise. Cause your feelings seem to be feeling otherwise. Otherwise. Otherwise
Take your broken pieces and use them for protection. Use them for protection. Use them for protection.
Take your strong pieces and use them for living on the outside of your skin. Living on the outside...
You've got to suck it up, even though they spit you out.
Take it in, Take it in.
Living on the outside of your skin. (x8)
Take your strong pieces and use them for living on the outside of your skin. Living on the outside...
Take it in, Take it in.
Living on the outside of your skin. (x8)

But, folks, is it that simple? Don't the words clearly describe what it is up to? There is a "second man" inside of man/around him, that has different thoughts, different feelings from the "first man" i.e. your normal consciousness. And often another person senses this "second man's" thoughts and feelings stronger than you sense'em yourself. Anybody who really encounters other people in that way has begun to haver supersensual sensations. Very many people could have them today, in fact, if they were paying more attention to what they already faintly perceive in encounters with other people. And this change in perception is basic to any other change in politics, social attitudes, raising children, treating the environment well and so on. So that song, as modest as it is, is also encouraging: Look at others the way I do; don't be scared if someone looks at you the way which is described here. Nice, I think.
I think this song means to act and be yourself. The main lyrics are living on the outside of your skin, which to me means to live and act the way you do inside. "Forget the words you think you were sayin, cause your thoughts seem to be thinking otherwise" to me means that you you say what your thinking and not mask what you really feel to act or please whoever your talking too.
To me, this song has always been about feeling not a part of the society around you. You try to be like other people and spend time with them, but you don't feel like you belong. You are living on the outside of your skin- the real you isn't there. Minowa says to get over it, so what if you are rejected. Your thoughts are different than what you are saying, say what you mean and get through possible rejection. I dunno, that's just my interpretation.
I love this song.
I love this song too. I dunno but for me the lyrics are pretty straight: grow up, adapt, learn to be stronger among others, learn to control your face, use your strengths, learn from your weaknesses.
I think it's about taking rejection and hurt from when people berate for you for being who you are and using it to become stronger.
