Free at Last Lyrics
Way down yonder in the graveyard walk
I thank God I'm free at last
Me and my Jesus going to meet and talk
I thank God I'm free at last
On my knees when the light passed by
I thank God I'm free at last
Thought my soul would rise and fly
I thank God I'm free at last
Some of these mornings, bright and fair
I thank God I'm free at last
Goin' meet my Jesus
In the middle of the air
I thank God I'm free at last
Ladies and gentlemen
Antony & The Johnsons
I thank God I'm free at last
Me and my Jesus going to meet and talk
I thank God I'm free at last
I thank God I'm free at last
Thought my soul would rise and fly
I thank God I'm free at last
I thank God I'm free at last
Goin' meet my Jesus
In the middle of the air
I thank God I'm free at last

this may be a little late, but according to wikipedia...
"Their early live shows were often opened by Dr. Julia (Yasuda), an intersex person, who performs the welcome in Morse code."
so I'm assuming the person speaking is this Dr. Julia.
wikipedia no longer includes that quote :( but on the "I am a Bird Now" wikipedia page, it does say that Julia Yasuda contributed the vocals for this track

The lyrics look like an old negro spiritual (is that racist?) from the 19th century, but sung by a hermaphrodite from Manchuria in the 21st century. The track is pretty jarring among the rest, but that's why it's the 2nd-to-last track, now isn't it? It's such a perfect perfect perfect intro "I am free at last!" to Bird Gehrl. Despite the heartache and despair, I Am A Bird Now - free at last - born into soon the sky
does anybody know who is speaking on this track? i was thinking it may have been the person this album was dedicated to, but i really have no clue.
Absolutely fucking brilliant. That is all.
to my knowledge it is devendra banhart that sings on this. you know if anyone ever sees this.
what a waste of a track
