All the Way... Lyrics

They heard the sound of the snow falling
They left the house, and started running
They ran past the street where they flout their lines
Where chemistries slowly redesigned
All the way, the calender froze on even number
Kat caught the tones of the cold corner
All the way, they could see it going
All the way, ist temprature, fahrenheit sanction
A transparent sound, mapping distraction
All the way, it would be forever
All the way

All the way, they heard the sound of the snow falling
They left the house and started running
Im gonna let you know when it's time to be leaving
Don't run, the same goes for company this evening
You come here, and i disappear
Some how i see something i fear
Maybe we'll make someones souvenir
All the way, they heard the sound of the snow falling

I think it's about the inhabitants of the town of Prypiat who were permanently evacuated when the Chernobyl power plant melted down.

I sort of get the sense that this song might be about cocaine. Perhaps there are some people trying to get away from an environment that has fostered an addiction to it?

"I was watching TV the other day and there was a documentary about illegal immigrants trying to get from West Africa to the U.K. I thought, 'God, this is really, really sad,' and then I realized they had 'All the Way' [the album-closing instrumental on 'Witching Hour'] as the music underneath it!" by the band member Hunt. My feelings about this one, is more of a return since the music isnt as sugar.synth as the ones preceeding it.

I never thought about it relating to cocaine, but now that I read over the lyrics, it makes a lot of sense. Weird. Could one of my favourite songs really be related to drug use? ... It's not entirely surprising.

This song begs to be used in a movie.

Personally, I gathered from the last 2 lines that it may be talking about a snowglobe. Random thought, I know, but think of it as talking about a snowglobe, and it kinda makes sense.

"Maybe we'll make someones souvenir All the way, they heard the sound of the snow falling"

The () is only my intepretation...

They heard the sound of the snow falling (The snow falls as soon as they go away from their self, its creates a storm, ´cause its has its prices to walk away from yourself)

They left the house, and started running (They leave their sources of themselves, their home and starts to run away from their self, in the shape of the enemy of what you really are)

They ran past the street where they flout their lines (They run past the streets that’s close to their hearts, that guides them to themselves in obvious and true form)

Where chemistries slowly redesigned (Their new life is new, and created by them)

All the way, the calendar froze on even number (The calendar froze and they starts to stop living as they truly is, and the lie takes over them)

Kat caught the tones of the cold corner (Kat hear tones of what they really are) All the way, they could see it going All the way, its temperature, Fahrenheit sanction (the temperature is changing)

A transparent sound, mapping distraction (A sound from their hearts that tries to turn them away from each other)

All the way, it would be forever All the way (They go all the way away from themselves, destroys their map to their true self)

All the way, they heard the sound of the snow falling (The snow falls as soon as they go away from their self, its creates a storm, ´cause its has its prices to walk away from yourself)

They left the house and started running (They leave their sources of themselves, their home and starts to run away from their self, in the shape of the enemy of what you really are)

I’m gonna let you know when it's time to be leaving (They will decide when they will return to themselves) Don't run, the same goes for company this evening (Don’t run home, we decided to live this way)

You come here, and I disappear (Your true self becomes a threat, so if you embrace yourself, you and your lie disappears)

Some how I see something I fear (And that’s what you fear)

Maybe we'll make someone’s souvenir (Maybe they grasp a piece of themselves, as a souvenir of their old life)

All the way, they heard the sound of the snow falling (The snow falls, ´cause they’re in a storm, where coldness rules over them)

My Interpretation

I got a strong imagery of World War 2, perhaps from the viewpoint of a young Russian girl.

"They could see it going all the way" "it would be forever, all the way" -as in Hitler's plan to take his 3rd reich to world dominance.

"They left the house, and started running" -Jews or other persecuted enemies of Nazi rule being evacuated or chased out

"You come here, and I disappear Some how I see something I fear Maybe we'll make someones souvenir" -This set really made me think of the magnitude of death and destruction everywhere in WW2, how cheap human life became. And from the point of view of a young Russian girl, the desperation and fear in thinking that perhaps the best possible scenario would be capture by Nazi troops and taken along as a sort of war souvenir.

"the calender froze on even numbers" -All the world being turned on its ear, life as it was known ceased to exist as the war escalated to effect all of Europe.

The whole tone and feel of the song really puts me there, gives me chills. Even if this was not the artist's intention, this is what I get out of it. The fear and desperation that a young person in this time and place must have felt becomes so palpable. I guess that's art for you.
